The New 10@10 / Re: Another new and (sorta) local 10@10

I can't tell if 10at10 is still happening, but the Vine certainly is eclectic. These are the first three songs I heard:

Once Bitten, Twice Shy - Great White
You Worry Me - Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats
Little Red Book (!) - Love

Weird.

I hadn't listened to 10at10 in months. It's just not as much fun if people aren't listening at the same time. But I guess it's gone. Is Denis working on the air at the Bone?

Including "Tarzan Boy" -- my legacy lives on!
I just listened to that. Extending the length of that Joe Tex song pushed it squarely into the hits from Hell category.

Stream of Consciousness / Re: KFOG, But Not 10@10

After repeated emails from the PD, I searched on The Woody Show to see what people were saying about it. I listened to maybe 5 minutes of today's show on Soundcloud and it's unlistenable. No music. At. All. Maybe that's normal for morning shows, but not something I need to ever listen to. Greg Gory still has a great voice, but not much value to that if he's just gonna be a giggle-boy.

Oh man, this set really went off the rails after Heart's "Stairway". All songs that I'd prefer not to hear, so who cares about the connections? (which were awfully tenuous in some cases)

Entirely too much Bon Jovi in this set.

Not to mention too much Backstreet Boys.

Not getting the link between "Midnight Rider" and "Gone Gone Gone" (Robert Plant and Alison Krauss).

Listening now. Last time the links were pretty obscure.

Way better than the 80s equivalent, but I can't forgive him for playing the short version of Frankenstein. It's egregious.

10. Meco – Empire Strikes Back
 9. David Foster – Love Theme From St. Elmo’s Fire
 8. Kenny G – Silhouette
 7. Jive Bunny And The Mastermixers – Swing The Mood
 6. Mike Post Featuring Larry Carlton – The Theme From Hill Street Blues
 5. Royal Philharmonic Orchestra – Hooked On Classics
 4. Kenny G – Songbird
 3. Harold Faltermeyer – Axel F
 2. Jan Hammer – Miami Vice Theme
 1. Vangelis – Chariots Of Fire – Titles

I'm surprised he didn't have Herb Alpert's "Route 101" (which inspired me to do my strictly instrumental set).

FYI, the alternate link (https://www.mixcloud.com/soundwavesFM/) has been updated up to the Hits From Hell set.
Terrible. Only a couple tolerable songs. And he didn't even include Jive Bunny and the Mastermixers! (Never hoid of 'em...)

10/9:

On today’s edition of Soundwaves 10@10, we’ll hear the first of six #1 hits for
Hall and Oates, the famous girl group hit written by two members of Earth, Wind
and Fire, and the Stevie Wonder song that Will Smith sampled for one of his big hits.
Gah! "Smoke from a Different Fire"???? Pay attention, man!

The New 10@10 / Re: 5 October 2017: it's... The Essential Tom Petty

10/5:

On today’s edition of Soundwaves 10@10, we pay tribute to music legend Tom Petty,
who died at the young rock and roll age of 66. From his hits with the Heartbreakers
and Stevie Nicks to his live album with Bob Dylan and supergroups Traveling Wilburys
and Mudcrunch, these are the essential songs for the man who once claimed “You Got
Lucky.” Yep, we sure did.
Good set, but Mr. Willis insisted on saying "Mudcrunch". Ou(n)ch. He said it that way several times, so no slip of the tongue. It's funny how many little details he seems to have trouble with.

"MudCrunch" would be a great name for a candy bar, tho'. :)
That it would!

Boy, you weren't kidding. Def not a misspeak.

An OK set, but as I am given to saying, too many overplayed hits, not enough deep tracks. Which is why I don't make a habit of listening to this 10@10 anymore.
I don't make it a habit either, but sometimes I binge a few. I miss the live commentary of the past. Oh well.

Wow, sure don't remember this cover of Funkytown. Is it Wang Chung?

I don't get why he's playing that song about the bathroom.
