Just tuned in for the end of a Neil Young tune (Needle and the Damage Done?), and now hearing Mac Davis' Baby Don't Get Hooked on Me. A real AM nugget, possibly a bustout?

Wish I could tell you which version this was; I think they were released almost simultaneously. Not sure if either or both charted, but I'm sure someone can tell us.
VHM Stones. Not a bad song, but there are so many great ones on Exile that All Down the Line is kind of an also-ran.

Agreed. Six-way BOS tie to the Moodies, Mac Davis, New Seekers, Kinks, and Todd. Oh and the other Mac too--Fleetwood. A pretty strong set by any measure, but particularly from Renee. (Wonder if Rosalie had any input?)

Mac Davis and The Seekers are both bust-outs. I agree with the general consensus; this was
a pretty good set, especially for RR.

Everybody's in Show-Biz is one of the best Kink's albums ever.
It's a good album, but I'd venture that four of the five albums that preceded it (Something Else, Village Green Preservation Society, Lola vs. Powerman and the Moneygoround, and Muswell Hillbillies) are all better, more cohesive works. The fact that it's got both original studio material and live versions of previously released songs somehow detracts from its overall impact, at least for me. I like both parts; I just think I'd have a better reaction if they'd been released separately.

I was going to say one of the last great Kink's albums, but I like Preservation Act 1, and I
haven't heard Preservation Act 2, which I should at least give a chance before I slag it.
But pretty much everything after that is mediocre at best, and it's just sad when compared to
their earlier work. It doesn't help that their later hits are extremely overexposed. I'm ready
to knock that damn Palais down myself, or build another one, whatever it takes -- just as long
as he stops singing about it.
