Just heard the first of these songs on DDT, so my memory was jogged:

Sentimental Lady - Fleetwood Mac
Do You Know What I Mean? - Lee Michaels
Mandolin Rain - Rod Stewart

I don't think this should be too hard...

Well it's REALLY been a while since I posted any of these, but  Annalisa just played "Emperor's New Clothes" & "What's Up?" back to back.

Sinead O'Connor - "Emperor's New Clothes"
Rod Stewart - "Every Picture Tells A Story"
The Cure - "Just Like Heaven"

4 Non-Blondes - "What's Up?"
The Brothers Johnson - "Strawberry Letter 23"
The Band - "The Weight"

voila!  And can anyone tell me why that song is NOT called Strawberry Letter 22?  I presume that there must be a story behind it, like how "Badge" got it's title.

Actually, I can.  The story goes, Shuggie Otis and his SO wrote gushy letters back and forth, actually keeping count of the correspondence.  Shuggie sings, "A letter from you / Strawberry Letter 22," and responds with the song -- the song itself is Strawberry Letter No. 23.

Now you tell me the "Badge" story, because I don't know it.

And per your request...
Clapton & Harrison were already great buds by this time (& presumably Eric was already fixated on Patty), and George had agreed to co-write an as-yet-unnamed song with Cream.  George got inspired while sitting in a pub or coffee house or some such & scrawled out the bridge on a napkin.  He put the letters "B r i d g e" across the top and eventually handed it to Clapton, who didn't look at it until sometime later, by which time the "r" & the "i" had run together.  He incorporated the bridge (which is probably my favorite bridge in all of rock 'n' roll) and assumed that George had also supplied him with the title: Badge.
