spot the vinyl--45 or 33?

This better be better (you bet) than Bob's set earlier -- but I'm not optimistic.

Almost exactly what I said in my (now nuked) version of this thread.
Winwood leading off. Spanish Dancer? The lo-o-o-o-ong version?
ETA: Nope, Night Train. Been awhile since I heard this one.
-
HM at least; listening between classes. Forcing the students to listen! Greatest synth bass lines ever.
-
VHM to my second favorite song on this album, not a bustout, but one that Dave hasn't played in over 3 years.

One reason I'm just as glad I don't get to work until 9. :)

Tempted by the fruit of a 'Trina.

Wish the Temps or 4 Tops had thought to cover this somewhere along the line. That was obviously what Costello was going for with the arrangement of this one, would have been nice to hear the real thing take a whack at it.

BOS to "Harden My Heart," which I haven't heard in a few years.
-
Commenting on Princess Di's dress - "it has BIG sleeves...I think if you'd asked a girl to draw a dress of a princess she'd draw a dress just like that..."
Anyone else think that was actually some very subdued British snarkiness?

Indeed -- been a while since Dave's dug this one out.

For a whopping 5 frink points, what was Quarterflash's name before they got signed & the A&R guy said, "OMG, your name sucks".

The Underminer at work.

Yep, Quarterflash at their peak. My college concert board did a show with them--they were quite nice folks, not at all full of themselves.
Trivia: What was the band's name before they changed it (with good reason) to Quarterflash?

I can't believe I actually know this without checking:
Seafood Mama.

That's one of the more freakish jinxes here.

Trivia jinx. Want me to tell, or shall we let the rest of the gang have a shot?
ETA: Never mind--I see Gaz has grabbed the brass ring already...well done, sir!

Too late. I agree with Gaz on the Freakishness of this Jinx & also that I can't believe 3 of us knew that off the tops of our heads.
We're a sick, sick group.

TANC! (See the YouTube thread.) BOS to Joe Dolce.
-
BOS to that great country songwriter, Joe Dolce!!! (who Gaz sez is cute)
Whatsamatta You?

OK, point taken--both bad, just in different ways.

HM to You Make-a Mah Dreams Come True.
BOS2 from me. One of their most consistent LPs -- a gem.
-
This better be better (you bet) than Bob's set earlier -- but I'm not optimistic.
At this point Dave has already left Bob in the dust. Not bad for a Monday.

Agreed -- credit where credit is due, Starship notwithstanding.
-
Wow -- BOS3 "Omega man", not one we hear very often.
-
And let's not forget we're supposed to be watching for vinyl here. The Joe Dolce track definitely was (likely the 45), and I'm going to surmise the Quarterflash was off the LP.

I'll second that.
-
Alicat, please come to the white courtesy phone, message from Rick James!

And he can't get docked any points in comparison for that since Bob played it, too.
I hadn't heard that part about Hinckley getting kicked out of the Nazi party before.
And Jody, all that other unsolicited correspondence you got? Maybe it wasn't so similar after all, dontcha think?
-
I've told this story before, but the first time I heard "Super Freak" I thought it was Tim Curry. Seems kinda ridiculous now, but it really made sense at the time.
-
BOS3 to "I Love You," corny but touching pub rock.

I can totally see that.

Except for those mash notes from a 4-year-old Amelia Ray.

BOS3 to "I Love You," corny but touching pub rock.
I liked this song a lot, except the line about "so I made you my wife".
Not PC to say that anymore, but I felt uneasy about it even then.
