Aretha Franklin, universally acclaimed as the “Queen of Soul” and one of America’s greatest singers
in any style, died on Thursday at her home in Detroit.  She was 76.  The cause was advanced pancreatic
cancer, her publicist, Gwendolyn Quinn, said.
