Title: 2/3/05 Thursday
Post by: Gazoo on February 03, 2005, 07:53:48 AM
Looks like the main Drive-cast is blocked, so I'm at DDT now.

And not that anyone's playing it, but apparently Lisa Marie Presley has worked up a cover of "Dirty Laundry."

In MJ's case, "Dirty Laundry" (in the literal sense) would be incriminating evidence.

all together now: "Ewwwwwwwwwwwww!"

Oh, feck it all.  "L.A. Goodbye" is playing and I couldn't hear the first refrain (my favorite part of the song) b/c the guy who shares my office was having a loud conversation/argument.

Drink to me, drink to my health...  Hope poc can translate these French mumblings.

And Rod's up next, on the Peking ferry feeling up Mary.

"The women I've known I wouldn't let tie my shoe"  -- way to sweet talk a girl, Rod!

How appropriate... a warm San Franciscan night on DDT. And they played Fever Tree's "SF Girls" earlier.   Someone in ChiTown needs to come in out of the cold, I reckon.

And now it's Jackson Browne for the umpteenth time. If he's not the most played DDT artist, I'd sure like to know who is. CSN is in the running too.

"There's A Place", by yay, The Beatles.  I'm sure I've heard it before, but it's as if I have not.

It's not that great, though.

indeed -- I missed Get Outta Denver, Sitting, and Sister Disco (Damn phonecalls!) and got back in time to Change my Latitudes Attitudes.
And actually that album was pleasant -- his peak, before everything started to calcify into Cheeseburger Fins on a Volcano in Paradise.

Why does Dave never play Cheap Trick in 1978-80 sets? Occasionally we hear The Flame in 1988 (or thereabouts), but never a California Man or On Top of the World or even Surrender.

I think I've heard "Surrender" once or twice over the years but you'd think a song like that would be a Katrina, given Dave's propensity for power pop. We've heard their forgettable cover of "Don't Be Cruel" more often.

Didn't register at the time, working too hard.  Anyway, Johnny Nash is Stirring it up nicely now, in preperation for another Southern treat "Green Grass and High Tides."

Hate Coconut, but the song is pretty fine.  Played my fave Tom Petty song earlier, "A Woman In Love", the story behind it (for me) having been related before.  And "Slip Kid", from The Who By Numbers which my little sister gave me for christmas one year (on vinyl).

And now, "Mercedes Benz."  Really?  Deep?

Si, susquehanna.

But now "Down By The Seaside," my standard answer to the favorite song query.  Just too pretty.

I'm not familiar with this Stephen Stills track at all -- It rocks! ("Go Back Home")

And now, something logical for the princess....
