Title: 23 Feb 2016: it's... 1977
Post by: RGMike on February 23, 2016, 07:41:45 AM
well, a day too late for "Margaritaville". But I'm sure we'll hear lots of Star Wars clips.

TOTHK: Crapton gets to the "Core" of what it means to be an FF.

Late but not too late. Tuned in just in time to hear the end of the Clapton song. One of his better songs of this era, imo.

2. Early Apple 2 ad > Talking Heads - Don't Worry About the Government (bustout?)

Wish I could.

3. 10cc -- Good Morning Judge

A somewhat lesser played song from Deceptive Bends (and thankfully not The Things We Do For Love). VHM.

appears to be, which surprises me. It's one of those "I coulda sworn..." songs

EWF, unsurprisingly, with "Serpentine Fire"

4. Big Mac - I Don't Want To Know
5. Earth, Wind & Fire - Serpentine Fire

Should have remembered that EWF was HUGE in '77, and this song was a FF in my dorm. Brings back memories of many freshman year keg parties.

So far not too bad a set. Now if we can just get thru the next five songs without any Boston or Foreigner.

SNL "wild & crazy guys" --> "Got to Get Give it Up", Marvin. A well-worn nugget.

Def not a FF but probably not a bustout either, and heavy on the cheeze to boot. I might be tempted to BOS this one.

AL's played it 4 times; amazingly Dave never did.

Son of Sam --> The Dan, "Aja"

Angular banjos sound good to me. (Killer drumming on this cut.)

"Star Wars" clip > Wreckless Eric - The Whole Wide World

Not a bustout either, iirc, but certainly a BOS.

Queen's Jubilee --> "God Save you-know-who". Least-surprising segue of set.

Just struck me that I remember seeing Paul Westerberg cover this song at the GAMH about 10-12 years ago.

Any excuse to get the Pistols into the set works for me. Although I'd love to hear Holidays in the Sun or nearly anything else off Never Mind the Bollocks once in awhile. BOS3

I'll assume we're late-'80s-bound tomorrow.
