AL is taking requests!

A nice surprise. Expect Bowie, Eagles, and Dan Hicks.

And my weekly phone check-in with the boss is running late today (shocked!) so I am crossing my fingers he just reschedules for tomorrow.

"I'm an alligator!"

One down, and an excellent choice. Mick Ronson's guitar on this is sublime.

Did Paul Kantner have any releases this year? '72 was a bit late for the Airplane, and early for the Starship.

Great pick (and right in her wheelhouse)! Has this turned up before? A strong BOS candidate, in any case.

JA had Long John Silver, not the most radio-friendly of their LPs.

'72 election McGovern ad --> "Nice to Be with You" -- BOS3 for my 2nd request of the day!  I'm gobsmacked!

ETA: and it's another song that's only appeared once before 6 years ago. Funny, you'd've thought it was right up Dave's alley, but no.

Play it Again Sam Woody and Diane --> "Heart of Gold". Closest to an egregious FF, but I'm not complaining.

WOW!  Uber BOS & a for sure proxy for Geoff:  "Free Four"

Years ago he found out that I didn't know this song & promptly emailed me the MP3 of it.

Got back in mid-Use Me. Didn't miss anything too obscure, and had a good chat with the boss, so all in all a good thing.

Loving hearing Free Four. Another BOS fo' sho'.

Nice that you managed to contribute two songs to the set -- were many of the others from the request thread? I haven't had a chance to look.

This was a delightful set.

I found it to be a big disappointment.  1972 has enormous (http://10at10club.com/forum/index.php?topic=9656.msg188059#msg188059) potential (http://10at10club.com/forum/index.php?topic=9656.msg188060#msg188060) for bust-outs,
yet today's set continued what has become an unfortunate pattern:  the earlier the year,
the fewer bust-outs in the show.  In the past two or three months we've been regularly seeing
three or four bust-outs in '80s and '90s sets; to not have any in 1972 seems to go beyond simple
negligence.

That's astounding. Not an FF so much as an LN, since it's certainly a song I've heard a billion times.

Outta-Space and Use Me and Heart of Gold were all requested; there were also several artists in the set who had other songs requested (Bread, Bowie).  Was surprised by the lack of Eagles and Dan Hicks.

I would have thought you'd lament Argent as a FF/LN.

But there *is* a lot of other NY to play (even just off of Harvest), so maybe it is more egregious.  Anyone know of another Argent song worthy of a bustout?

I don't think we've ever heard "God Gave Rock'n'Roll To You" but I could be wrong. Or their orig version of "Liar"

No, as far as 10@10 is concerned, Argent is a one-hit wonder.

WRT to Heart of Gold, there are some popular songs that have never appeared until
the modern era, if at all.  Dave either retired them before recorded history, or avoided them
because they were so popular.

I could swear we'd heard it once, but could be a case of having heard it on the Boulder or Chicago 10@10 at some time back when.
