Probably my favorite year for music.  Rascals as a TOTHC isn't quite optimal, but not bad.

"Jimi Hendrix opens for the Monkees"

Micky actually talked about that briefly this morning.  He doesn't relate everything to the Monkees but he doesn't steer away from the topic either.

Methinks I have heard "Nights in White Satin" one too many times. Still a fab lyric, tho'.

CBS-FM should get one of their techies to re-edit "Mickey's Monkey" and make it "Monkees' Mickey".

So far, BOS to "I Am the Walrus."  Set feels weirdly uninspired to me, though.

VHM: "New York Mining Disaster, 1914."

1967 shouldn't be so soul-free, Music Explosion notwithstanding.  How I would have loved to hear, say, "Bernadette" or "The Hunter Gets Captured By the Game."

Best Horns of Set by a mile: "Bend Me, Shape Me."  Covered inferiorly by Amen Corner in '69, just before two of the Breed lads formed Rufus.

actually the AC version charted in the UK in Jan '68.  I always thought the American Breed version was the cover, or else that they did it simultaneously.

ok, since no one answered:

andre fischer (drummer for american breed and rufus) was once married to natalie cole. and i once impersonated him on a dare. natalie cole was in town, and my coworkers and i were trying to figure out where she was staying so we could dream of stalking her at the hotel. the clerk at the fairmont let the cat out of the bag before she quickly hung up the phone. i won $10, and caught her live show twice that week.
