Title: 21 July 2014: it's a "classic" from... 1981
Post by: RGMike on July 21, 2014, 09:50:38 AM
so, RR and AL are on vacay at the same time? That's usually a no-no in the radio biz.

and it's another show from the first AL tenure.

TOTHK: U2, "Gloria"

This 2/17/11 gem is so good, this is its second re-air (first was on 6/27/11).

**SPOILER ALERT**  (because I don't have time to post individually)

1.  U2- Gloria
 2.  Santana- Searchin'
(News brief: Fed Gov't shutdown)
 3.  The Tubes- Talk To Ya Later
 4.  The Go Go's- Our Lips Are Sealed
(Movie: Raiders Of the Lost Ark)
 5.  Styx- Too Much Time On My Hands
(Ad: IBM)
 6.  Joan Jett- Do You Wanna Touch Me
(Ad: Don't Squeeze the Charmin)
 7.  .38 Special- Hold On Loosely
(ad: Coffee: Decaffeinate the ones you love)
 8.  Marty Balin- Hearts
 9. OMD (Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark) - Souvenir
(TV: Tom Snyder w/The Clash)
10. The Clash- The Magnificent Seven

This has been a "classic" more than once; and other than the Joan Jett, OMD and Balin it's kinda crappy IMHO.

Second time we've heard from .38 Special in the last two weeks. OK, this is a classic, but I'm still not liking that trend much.

Also, seems like the Bangles and Go-Gos have appearing in as many 80s sets as they possibly can. I enjoy them both, but c'mon, there are other girl groups out there if that's a niche you have to fill. I did enjoy hearing the Joan Jett.
