Just heard a hint that mentioned Raiders of the Lost Ark and Chariots of Fire. Which says '81 to me.
-
I'm going to miss the live airing of this one -- take copious notes! I'll have to check it out on SoundCloud later.
-

indeed, they were released in '81 -- but both nominated for Oscars that were handed out in April of '82, and with RR... ya never know.
-
amd '81 it is -- "Mony Mony", TOTHLN. This is supposedly RR's last 10@10 -- classics next week (I guess she needs a week of vacay to gird up for early mornings.)

81 it is! ( I looked back and we've been to 82 more recently than 81, so was hoping that would play in our favor.)
And Billy Idol to lead off, covering Tommy James. RGM, cue the Mutual of New York joke in three...two...one...
-
LN2: Tubes, "Talk Yo Ya Later" -- appropriate given the occasion, I guess.

Was thinking there might be a little subtext to this choice...
-
eek: The Goat at her goatiest (+ Henley). LN3 and WOS1.

Might RR be twisting the knife in her detractors' backs one last time?
(ETA: This would be Leather and Lace for those playing our home version. Oh, I see you did mention Henley there, which pretty much IDs it definitively.)
-
LN4 "Shakin'" - sorry, I'm kinda cranky considering it's Friday.
-
LN5-- Santana "Winning". She's going for 10 LNs in a row, clearly...

See my previous post.

So far this set is supporting the idea that 1981 represented the worst of AOR hell.

Just a suggestion for the rest of the set: :)
for each (song)
{
LN++;
}

Police, Invisible Sun.
And the shits just keep on coming...

I was gonna BOS it. In fact, I still will. So there!
-
Mike, I took your advice and enlisted my phone as my KFOG reception device. It's working! Though the digital coverage is not so hot in my building. Close enough for jazz.
-
Police, Invisible Sun.

Sorry, didn't mean to tread on anyone's faves. As with the rest of the set to this point, I've just heard this one more than enough times. And GITM was far from my favorite Police album.

Yeah, there are stations whose players will not work on my office PC and I have to use the phone.
Well, LN6 Police and LN7 Duran2.

No offense taken at all. One man's BOS is...well, ya know.
I'm enjoying Duran Duran, but I'd prefer it along with the uncut video :P

Human League, Love Action (today's rarity/ bustout)
followed by:
Duran2, Girls on Film
Always did enjoy the use of looped motor-drive camera sound as the intro and outro.
-
Mr Buckingham saves the Day. BOS "Trouble"

oops, I missed that one -- BOS1. So BOS2 to "Trouble"

Mr Buckingham saves the Day. BOS "Trouble"
For me as well. Another entry on the "why wasn't this a huge hit?" list. Particularly since he was playing in one of the biggest bands on the planet at the time this was released.
-
good gawd: Clash with one of the all-time most-annoying LNs, "Mag 7" -- seriously,, it's a fucking TRIPLE LP and this is the only song we ever hear (except for the one time AL played "Hitsville UK").
-
1. Mony Mony - Billy Idol
2. Talk To Ya Later - The Tubes
3. Leather And Lace - Stevie Nicks/Don Henley
4. I'm Shakin - The Blasters
5. Winning - Santana
6. Invisible Sun - Police
7. Love Action - Human League
8. Girls On Film - Duran Duran
(News: Bohemian grove)
9. Trouble - Lindsey Buckingham
10. Magnificent 7 - Clash
ETA: well, safe to say she went out with a whimper and not a bang. But that makes it sort of an appropriate end to the RR era: like her famously awful first set, an LN- studded visit to 1968, this was a pretty pedestrian collection, save for #s 7 and 9. So she essentially bookended herself.

thanks for the home version ID. Yes, I could've figured it out, but it makes it easier.

per a post in 'snipeland... we're getting one more "new" 10@10 from RR: a Mardi Gras set on Tues. iirc, last year's was curated by Rosalie and was pretty good.

Did anyone bother to stick around to hear what got BOS today?

Per Renee, BOS went to The Clash.
I'm listening to the 10pm replay, and yet AGAIN the last song is abruptly truncated by a commercial
(and no backsell).
