After '85 and '97 (and *good* ones to boot), conventional wisdom would indicate a '70s or '60s day. Either would be just dandy.
-
To be contrarian, maybe Renee will debut 2004 or do a rain-themed set today.

a rain set would be cool, actually. Gory, Mud and Pugh were *all* out sick today, so it was Rockwell filling in solo. It was quite a pleasant surprise.
Damn, I hate this Passenger song.
OMFG: "Wordless Wednesday" returns!! How many of the Cap'n's instrumental picks will we hear?
-
predictable but pleasant start: "Water Song"
-
TOTHK - Hot Tuna "Water Song" - Wordless Wednesday - inspired by my recent "strictly instrumental" sets? :o

Joe Satriani "Always With Me, Always With You"

from predictable to downright uber-LN: Satriani "Always With Me/You"

I would concur. Yawner!

Johnny A. "Oh Yeah"

Johnny A. "Oh Yeah"
I'll BOS this -- haven't heard it in a while, and it was quite the KFOG staple when it was current.

HM... yeah, I think it once appeared in a year set... 2000?

Anyone care to ID this one?
ETA: Leo Kottke "Vaseline Machine Gun"

Anyone care to ID this one?
I have no idea, although it fits the previous flow.
-
Anyone care to ID this one?
I know I've heard it before but I'm blanking -- note we've had 4 guitar tuines in a row.
-
4. “Vaseline Machine Gun”, Leo Kottke
-
Eric Johnson "Cliffs Of Dover"

Oy: Eric Johnson "Cliffs of Dover". Seriously? LN2, big-time.

Jefferson Airplane "Embryonic Journey"
BOS
-
OK, I loves me some "Embryonic Journey", so BOS2... but this has been WAAAAY predictable so far. And given the adventurousness of the past 2 days, an instrumentals set shoulda kicked ass.
-
Not much happiness in Snipeland.
-
If the guitar-wank-fest is to continue, I'd at least like to hear some Jeff Beck -- perhaps Led Boots or Blue Wind off of Wired?
-
and that Morey-era staple, "Misrlou" -- LN3.
-
I would love for Darude's "Sandstorm" to make an appearance.
-
Dick Dale & His Del-Tones "Misirlou"

Hee. I'm staying away, tho' I certainly concur.

Jefferson Airplane "Embryonic Journey"
BOS
I'm boring my chem students with tales of how a fellow chem class student of mine could play this back then!
-
Vince Guaraldi Trio "Linus And Lucy"!
ETA: I have to bail, unfortunately. Hopefully the rest of the set picks up...
-
and she can't even continue the guitar theme (whci was the only unique thing about this set): we get "Linus & Lucy". Which i adore, but really didn't need here.
-
Dick Dale & His Del-Tones "Misirlou"
Blasting it out for my chem lab
Pulp Fiction they say!

Jefferson Airplane "Embryonic Journey"

Student 1: "DAY-um, Mr Gould is OLD, yo."
Student 2: "and he likes such boring-ass music."

Rodrigo y Gabriela?
-
Rodrigo y Gabriela?
I believe so. And confirmed by the KFOG page.
-
"Green Onions" -- damn, what a missed opportunity this set turned out to be.

Paco de Lucia died; they shoulda played him
-
I would give this set about a "C".... mostly points for breaking the routine, but I'd agree it could've been a lot better. Too much redundancy around songs 2-6.
-

Total misfire. So many great things could have come out of this (witness the Cap'n's Strictly Instrumental efforts of late) but instead it was strictly by the book. I'm heading back to WXTF.

And I'm sure that Renee really cares what listeners think... not.

We may never know for certain, but as a former lurker myself (and watching the view counts), I
would say we have more lurkers than posters. Whoever has access to the server logs could
find out from where connections to this board are made.

Sometimes I get the impression that the day's 10@10 is constructed (not created) by looking at
a couple of other similar previous sets, picking two or three songs from each, then adding an old
chestnut and a couple of bust-outs or rarities. Today was one of those days. I am glad to see
the return of Strictly Instrumental.
