'90s would appear to be overdue but '85 threw me off yesterday (esp since it was a good set with 3 excellent bustouts). Whothehell knows.

Forecasting years on 10@10 used to be somewhat predictable, but not lately. Gotta give props to whoever's scheduling the sets for the week for keeping us off-balance.
(DM was quite consistent for a few years; if it had been more than 5 weeks since a given year popped up you could pretty much count on it appearing within a week or so. Particularly for 70s and 80s years.)

TOTHK - A3 "Woke Up This Morning" - 1997
(http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/8/82/A3_-_woke_up_this_morning.jpg)
ETA: Renee basking in "rum afterglow" this morning?
-
ah, 1997. I'm kinda sorry to be right. Theme from The Sopranos def sez '97 to me.
oy: uber-LN1 "Song 2" is, er, song 2.
-

Maybe she'll "borrow" some material from my recent '97 set... Couldn't hurt. ;)
-
Renee basking in a "rum afterglow." What exactly was she doing with that bottle anyway?
-
Blur "Song 2"
Cue RGMike and the "uberinfinity-LN"
-
And I associate "Woke Up This Morning" with.... Y2K. Happened quite a bit during that timeframe.

heh. indeed, and can the Mighty Mighty Bosstones be far behind? or Chumbawumba?

Diana dead into Oasis "All Around The World"

Diana dead into Oasis "All Around The World"
Jeezus, we just heard "Wonderwall" 20 minutes ago...
-
U2 "Happiness Is A Warm Gun"

Was thinking the same thing. I recall hearing it a lot in the latter part of '99 and early '00. I think that was when The Sopranos were really taking off, so it would make sense.
Just checked: The Sopranos first aired in January of '99, so it would make sense that by late that year Woke Up This Morning would be pretty well assimilated into the public consciousness.
-
and our off-the-wall cover version of the day arrives. "Happiness/Warm Gun".

and safe to say the tune got zero airplay in '97.

File under: Today's token wacky cover version.

This was the B-side of Last Night on Earth? :o

BOS Hanson! Pop heaven.
-
And Renee plays one for RGMike: Hanson "MMMBop"

BOS so far... I take it that it wasn't the 10+ minute version.
-
U2 "Happiness Is A Warm Gun"
"Song 2"'s unnecessaryness aside, so far so good. What I remember 97 as (Well, not A3).
-
I believe Dave played Hanson a few times (although he seemed to prefer "Where's The Love"). Don't know if AL ever did, but RR has brought them back. Would really be impressed if "This Time Around" came up in a Y2K set.
-
Is Renee's "rum afterglow" having any effects (positive or negative) on today's set so far?
-
Third Eye Blind "How's It Gonna Be"

Well, so far we've had Blur and Oasis, which are rum-appropriate, plus the wacky U2 cover. And A3 doesn't exactly contradict (now, if we get Edwin McCain, that would be different). So, I'm not sure how you'd quantify that question, but so far this has been a good 97 set.
-
Erykah Badu "On & On"

Third Eye Blind "How's It Gonna Be"
the guy on the left looks HELLA gay, yo.
-
"How's It Gonna Be": Not particularly exciting, but I liked it (and at least it's not "Semi-Charmed Life").
Erykah Badu: Woah Nelly, is that a BOSFRA!! (And it's a non-Tracy Chapman/FYC black person!)
-

I think AL played Erykah Badu once.

Erykah Badu "On & On"
One of the more interesting things going on in '97. Gotta give props to whoever is programming this set. Save for the Blur it's been pretty decent. Even the 3EB didn't annoy me.
-
Radiohead "Lucky"
ETA: Wow, we're on page 3 on a late '90s set!
-
Radiohead "Lucky"
Another one I associate with a later year--in this case, 98, but still. OK Computer came out in '97 but I don't think it really got much traction til the following year.
-
Erykah Badu: Woah Nelly, is that a BOSFRA!! (And it's a non-Tracy Chapman/FYC black person!)
I think AL played Erykah Badu once.
Actually, it was Renee. :o (But this set overall blows that set out of the water: http://10at10club.com/forum/index.php?topic=9135.msg158357#msg158357 )
-
INXS "Don't Lose Your Head"

Hey, give us something worth talking about and we can be a chatty bunch.
Btw, this is probably a question for Dischead: We've heard Lucky a number of times on 10@10, primarily in the AL/RR eras. What other songs from OK Computer have made the cut, and how often?

If I may quote myself:
7 necessary' F's.... even with Erykah, this is Renee's worst effort to date. And she didn't even play Edwin McCain.

INXS "Don't Lose Your Head"
Good advice that Michael Hutchence should have heeded.
-
Ellen comes out into Daft Punk "Da Funk"
-
I would have preferred Aqua "Barbie Girl," but this is an excellent way to end the set.
-
If rum had anything to do with today's set, more, Renee, please! ;D

He only followed "Elegantly Wasted" 50%. Until now I didn't realize this was a foreshadowing concept album!
-
It's 1997, not 1987, Renee... is that the rum talking? ;)
-
2/25/13 1997
1. Woke Up This Morning - A3
2. Song 2 - Blur
(RIP Diana)
3. All Around The World - Oasis
4. Happiness Is A Warm Gun - U2
5. Mmmmm Bop - Hanson
6. How's It Gonna Be - Third Eye Blind
7. On & On - Erykah Badu
8. Lucky - Radiohead
9. Don't Lose Your Head - INXS
(Ellen comes out)
10. Da Funk -Daft Punk
Even the 90s/00s sets have become full of non-LN's lately. Sure looks like whoever's in charge of 10@10 is trying to make things interesting again.
-
Renee: BOS Erykah Badu; VHM Hanson

The best thing about the opening title of that show is that it featured the Pulaski Skyway!

Including today:
Lucky - 3
Paranoid Android - 1
Karma Police - 4
Renee has played markedly more Radiohead than her predecessors.

Many thanks, sir! I knew you'd be able to come up with those numbers!
