Title: 7 February 2014: it's...THE BEATLES!!
Post by: urth on February 06, 2014, 12:54:03 PM
The KFOG website says they're going to observe the 50th anniversary of the Beatles in the US all day Friday, including a special 10@10.

My noon meeting was moved to 10 am -- grrrr. Have to catch up when this hits Soundcloud later today. Hoping for good things y'all!

(Btw, the 9:50 promo for today's set included Dave Morey's voice saying "the Beatles - yay!")

Possibly -- Renee didn't have any soundclips besides DM, and this set could have used soundclips or an extra song...

indeed, I was fully expecting to hear some of the clips you used. The Sullivan stuff is easily accessable.  Apparently Renee is off today? Rosalie is posting on the KFOG FB page.

I'd count those Beatles "parody" sounders as clips, even if they were mercifully short.  But I agree,
it would have been easy to include some news coverage or commentary, advertisements, etc.

Rosalie: BOS Dave Morey!
OK, love the guy, but that is just lame.

First I would note that the runner-up was, "gee, how can you pick your favorite Beatles song?"
And there is a history of Fogheads casting BOS votes for particularly a good clip.

I take it as a (unintentional) poke in the eye of the corporate management of the station.  It's
been five years since he left, and he is still recognized with enough regard by listeners to inspire
this showing.  It highlights that maybe the suits made a bigger mistake than they thought by not
making the effort to retain him.
