Where will Renee's roulette wheel stop today?
Gotta be either '80s or '60s, I suppose.
Will we get a Xmas set tomorrow or will she wait for next week?

This board makes it hard enough to get any work done without adding alcohol.
Double-shot for disparaging wordplay on artist's names -- VHM Crapton.

Tim beat me to the "uber" bonus too.

BOS Waterboys, in spite of it being quite the frequent-flier in the AL & RR eras. Easily one of my favorite lyrics ever.

Whoa! First time we've heard Don in a set in quite a while. I thought they'd made the decision for him to retire from 10@10 when Dave did.
Btw, any bets on whether we hear any Mandela references this set? Sun City was '85, was it not?

Eric Clapton "She's Waiting"
I really like this one. Trying to remember what movie used it on the soundtrack, but I
conflate it with The Color of Money, which also prominently featured a Clapton song.

Yep. RR has been cribbing from everybody. In an e-mail I got from AL, she made it clear she
wanted to do her own work and didn't want to borrow from Dave.

No kidding. This set had a very high LNQ. The a-ha song has always grated on me. It's too
bad, because I like the way animation is used in the video.
-
"Small wheel turns by the fire and rod,
Big wheel turns by the grace of God,
Every time that wheel turns round,
You're bound to cover just a little more ground."
good one!

Which was a smart thing at the time -- "10@10 the Next Generation". There was also the friction between Dave and management over what constituted "fair use" of his old stuff (since resolved, I guess). And I imagine the thought occurred to someone that Don Pardo is pretty damn old, so better to retire his clips before he dies. But lo and behold, 4 years later and he's still around. And current management probably decided that with a less hands-on host like RR, there should be more of a "comfort food" vibe to the show.
