"The year we were watching Twin Peaks," sez Renee.
amazingly, we haven't done 1990 since July, so that's probably it.
-
TOTHK - Midnight Oil "Forgotten Years" - 1990
-
Misery into INXS "Suicide Blonde"
-
The Church "Metropolis"
-
Is this a DC set? Full of songs I was ok about... in 1990.
-
Indigo Girls "Hammer And A Nail"
-
Tesla "Signs"!
ETA: This actually charted in '91... And Renee is playing a "radio edited" version

Although it was early 1991, so I guess 1990 is ok.
BOS (is it a bustout?) - This is one of those songs I'm surprised doesn't get covered more often.
-
Phish "Bouncing Around The Room"
-

This is very DC-ish, isn't it. These types of sets have made a resurgence in the past week or so.
-
The Simpsons (Lisa got the blues) into Gary Moore "Still Got The Blues"
-

This week we've had two spectacular efforts, and two of what we have today.

"The blues isn't about making you feel better. It's about making other people feel worse."
-
Little Feat "Rad Gumbo"
-
So far, this set's two most listenable tracks have been the pop hits ("Suicide Blonde" and "Signs"). The rest fall into the "yeah, it takes talent to do it, and I suppose I should be appreciative of it, but I can't say I'm exactly jazzed about hearing here in 2013" category.
-
Lenny Kravitz "Mr. Cab Driver"
-
Lenny Kravitz "Mr. Cab Driver"
Interesting. NTM.
-
Mr. Cab Driver: Quintessential DC-style rarity. Speaking of, we heard this almost exactly one year ago in a 1989 set.
-
The 49ers defeat the Denver Broncos to win Super Bowl XXIV into EMF "Unbelievable"
No twin spin with Jesus Jones "Right Here, Right Now"? (Both of which were '91 chart hits, BTW)

Assuming the spectacular ones were 1967 and 1970? IIRC many of the 60s and 70s sets under the DC era were well liked too. The 80s and 90s sets were a completely different story.

The 60s and 70s sets were liked but often LN-centric, judging from RGMike's comments...

Renee: 2-way tie for BOS between The Church and Gary Moore
-
Glad I was otherwise occupied. Sounds typically DC-ish: a couple of oddities surrounded by LN-y playlist staples. In other words, just like Tuesday's '89 excursion.
I predict a passable late-'70s set tomorrow. Either that or 2002.

The average of which is still above the usual level. However I suspect the spectacular sets will not
continue to be so frequent, and they were partly due to the chosen years being very good ones.
The challange is consistently putting together a good set from weaker years.
I'll also note that the rock & roll roulette wheel seems to be displaying more truly random
behavior this week, with essentially two '60s sets and two from adjacent years.
