Renee's back in the saddle.
EEK: '98 Think I'll pass...
-
TOTHK - Pearl Jam "Given To Fly"
-
Instant WOS TOTHK. Things can only go up from here. (Let's hope)
-
Lucinda Williams "Can't Let Go"
-
Lucinda Williams "Can't Let Go"
I liked it back then but I'm inclined to say LN as it still gets regular KFOG play.
-
The Big Lebowski into Gipsy Kings "Hotel California"
-
Billy Bragg & Wilco "California Stars"
-
wow, a "California" twin-spin. I do like that Gypsy Kings cover and of course Wilco/Bragg.
-
The Verve "Bitter Sweet Symphony"
-
The Cardigans "My Favourite Game"
Bustout?

Billy Bragg will be at HSBG this year (he's been there like three of the past four years)

He's the swingingest prole in music!
-
Frank Sinatra R.I.P. into Smashing Pumpkins "Ava Adore"
-
The Cardigans "My Favourite Game"
Bustout?
Yes! I'm glad we're getting a Cardigans song that isn't Lovefool.
I'd love to hear Black Lab - Time Ago.
-
Barenaked Ladies "One Week"
-
Third Eye Blind "How's It Going To Be"
-
The Verve "Bitter Sweet Symphony"
one of the uber-LN-iest of '98 LNs. They play it 27 times a week in regular rotay, it seems.
But kudos on the Cardigans bustout.
-
Barenaked Ladies "One Week"
another LN.
-
"How's It Gonna Be" is NTM, but pretty yawny.
-
Friends into Cake "Sheep Go To Heaven"
-
Cake "Sheep Go To Heaven"
another bustout? Certainly a rarity.
-

Since exposure to the unfamiliar (or more specifically the un-LN) is a major consideration for 10at10 quality and fun factor, this set did wonders for me. Aside from Lucinda, which won BOS apparently, and BNLs and Verve, the music was pretty much NTM.
I can't recall what I was listening to back in 98, but apparently it wasn't KFOG or any station that played this stuff. I think I was deep in my "let's fill the gaps in my missing Classic Rock CD collection" phase.. *high five*
ETA: Oops, I assumed Lucinda won BOS, but that was based on a GS/FB personal comment.

Radical's Good/Necessary Ra(n)tings:
1. F/D (Sorry, all PJ sounds like PJ to me. Plus this one was kind of snoozy.)
2. C-/F
3. B/D (Regarding the necessary rating, I have very little tolerance for songs qualifying for a year solely due to being in a movie anymore.)
4. B-/B-
5. B-/F-
6. A-/A
7. A/A
8. A-/B-
9. B-/F
10. A/A-
The second half was brilliant, except for 3EB. The first half had too much KFOG FF fodder in my opinion. I'm glad that Renee seems to be coming through with late 90s/early 00s alternative material.

Agreed, and I didn't catch the movie connection -- the song was orig released on Elektra/Asulym Records' 40th anniv CD, Rubiyat, in 1990. A very interesting collection. IMHO.

Agreed, although I will say it's a (small) step up from songs qualifying for a year solely due to being included in a Greatest Hits package.
