Title: 23 Sept 2013: it's... 1993
Post by: RGMike on September 23, 2013, 09:30:15 AM
I'm guessing we might be going way back, after 2003 on Friday. But I'm usually wrong.

and I am: 1993.  Sheesh.  Think I'll stick with 2NG this morning.  Starting with the Cranberries Sundays cover of "Wild Horses". Snoozeville.

I like both of these (Belly and Sundays). Good start, and very much what I was listening to in them days.

"The Ugly Truth" (or whatever it is) is NTM. Matthew Sweet?

Good song. Sounds like a Jefferson Starship lost tune.

Very Papa John Creach sound on the fiddle. (ETA: Byron Berline, apparently)

Concrete Blonde "Mexican Moon"

another Moreytrina. But that Matthew Sweet tune is a rarity, at least. And not a snoozy one.

I was thinking that too -- lord knows we've heard "Sadeness" multiple times.  I think the Nirvana is a bustout too.

Greg was gushing about the last two songs of this set (he called them "gems").  So one of the songs is U2's "Numb".  Wonder what the other song is?

And it was produced by The Pet Shop Boys.

Compare with Git Fiddler from Red Octopus.  Very similar melody line, to my ear.

another Moreytrina.

Dave only played it twice, in 2008.

This set was not necessarily boring, but extremely somber.  Even the clips were all about dead people.  I seriously wonder if her dog died or something.
