our '80s day, I'm guessing.
Meanwhile -- how many times a week do they play the Lemonheads' cover of "Mrs Robinson"? Good gawd.
V-Femmes "Gone Daddy Gone" is a not-bad TOTHK.
-
TOTHK - Violent Femmes "Gone Daddy Gone" - 1983

Wasn't this a hit in 1985?

Woo Hoo, the mother of all Katrinas!! I'm not ashamed to admit that I still really like this song...

Maybe she's trying to mess with the database update! ;D

D'oh! I was working with a cow-orker, so I missed the intro, but when this came on I felt I knew what year it was. But I did not. And neither does Renee.
-
Renee will respond that the album came out in 83:

Tears For Fears "Mad World"

Someone in g'snipes posted "TFF" to which I replied "Too Fucking Frequent". Tho' "Mad World" is practically a rarity in this set. VHM "Love is a Stranger" just because it's not "Sweet Dreams"
-
Tears For Fears "Mad World"
BOS for Tears for Fears. The last ten times I've heard this song, I've heard the fine Gary Jules cover. It's nice to hear the (quite different) original.
-
Eurythmics "Love Is A Stranger"
-
BOS "Escalator of Life"!
-
Toys "R" Us commercial into Robert Hazard "Escalator Of Life"
-
BOS "Escalator of Life"!
Who's on the escalator? Sounds vaguely like Bauhaus, but only in the chorus.
ETA: Robert Hazard? Never hoid of 'im. But Wiki points out he wrote "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun". So there's that. And he died young of pancreatic cancer. Awwww.

BOS2 "Beat It"
I still have a fond memory of going to a bar years ago, and the jukebox had both "Beat It" and "Eat It" by Weird Al.
So of course I played both songs in order... :-)
-
This set was reminiscent of the DC-era Renee sets.
Virtually all FF's/LN's/Hits, a not-really-KFOG-but-still-not-particularly-ballsy-pop-hit (Beat It), and one song all the way completely out of left field. (Although, this one wasn't *quite* as snoozy as what we usually got in that model.)

There's a very funny explanation of this on Wikipedia.

BOS2 "Beat It"
A big LN from me. I would have thought it difficult to have a track from this album that wasn't,
but Human Nature and Wanna Be Startin' Somthing have each only appeared once
on 10@10, and P.Y.T. would have been a bust-out.

Yep... a high LNQ. 1983 is a very strong year, and any set from it should be so much better than
this.
