not ready to proffer a BOS but Place in the Sun sounds great. Saw Pablo Cuise a few weeks ago at the Millbrae Art and Wine. OK but not fab. Fun.

Well this Pablo Cruise tune is doing the same for me. Never did like this band--far too whitebread.

Ironically, the concert board at my college booked them while I was working for them (the board, not Pablo) and they turned out to be the biggest cokeheads we'd ever booked.

I love Princess Leia's fake Mayfair accent from 'Chapter 4'.

I love even more that she loses it by 'Chapter 5'...

ETA: Too bad Natalie Portman decided to use it for Chapters 1-3....

BOS for Carrie Fisher!  I've never heard those words so clearly before.  I didn't know she thought she had a father on Alderan.  And the "Clone Wars" reference - never picked that up either.

Is it just me, or is there a big dropoff from 76 to 77 in quality songs?  76 is the last year that really makes me happy to hear.  And I'd rather a 79 set than 77 or 78...

Oh, yeah. That's why Chapters 1-3 were so eagerly awaited- so we'd actually see the Clone Wars.

(Obi wan tells Luke that he served with his father in the Clone Wars later on...)

Nope, I generally react the same way. Occasionally Dave comes up with a 77 set that I can dig, but mostly it's otherwise. Kinda like this one.

best flashback: the Concorde gets cleared to fly into JFK.  I had friends who lived in Howard Beach (next to the airport) and it was a big issue. Journalist Jimmy Breslin had the best line about the Concorde:

"it's like an electric pepper mill ... sure it's faster, but who the hell NEEDS one?"

Ooh, BOS for Crawler!  This must be a Narada, eh?  I've never heard this anywhere except on 10at10 (and on the LP that I bought after hearing it there (here?)).  I really like this one.

Btw, Carrie Fisher will be appearing in a small but (I think) reoccuring role on 'Smallville' (aka 'Gay Superman'). She'll play an editor at The Daily Planet.

I watched "Thumb Wars" a couple months ago.  It's Star Wars, more or less, where all the actors are thumbs, in costume.  I didn't want to watch it, but it was actually pretty funny.  I think there are several other Thumb productions, but I don't expect I'll be watching.

A few reactions to this set:

WOS, as you guessed, to Skynyrd, with "Lay Down Sally" not far behind.  I just don't like the shuffle of the latter.

Funny we hear Carrie Fisher, I was just thinking about her on the way back from DC: A few years ago there was a fraudulent startup called DEN.net that claimed to do web serial programming aimed at teens, and they hired her (nb: she was not part of their shenanigans) to play the role of "DEN Mother."  At the time I thought the title and her role were clever, but I knew something wasn't right.  I didn't know exactly how lawless they were, though (two of the major players are now in jail for fucking young boys, IIRC).

"Stone Cold Sober" is a Narada for me as well, but it did chart in the Hot 100.

Saw an electric pepper mill for the first time while I was in Montreal.  Made about as much sense to me as an electric toothbrush (i.e., little to none).

BOS to "Boogie Man," KC's most sinister groove.  The hushed count-off, funky bass piano, elaborate horn riff, and relentless tambourine & shakers make this my favorite KC production by a mile.

And for the health matter: Not to be alarmist, but it seems I'm developing the symptoms of an ulcer.  Maybe I should look at the bright side and focus on my having lost 10 pounds (I haven't seen the underside of 150 since 1995), but this is really unpleasant.  Here's hoping I get a job with health benefits soon.

Lastly: The Crankypants riffing made me LOL!  Y'all had the good foot today.  Thanks.

That Crawler tune is one of those KSHE Classics I sometimes rave about (c.f. "Two Hangmen",  "Lake Shore Drive" & "Children of the Sun") that are more likely to be heard on WDRV.  I have the mp3 if someone needs it.
