No Summer set... but no '90s set this week either!
BOS1 TOTHK Dave Edmunds crawling from the wreckage, a Graham Parker compo.
-
I was hoping for a 90s set. Or 2002. :(
Hmm, only one year back from yesterday.
-
OMFG: BOS2 Neil, "Powderfinger"
-
BOS2 for Neil's "Powderfinger".
-
WOS Neil Young's voice.

those days are gone, apparently. at least temporarily. But yeah, its unusual to heave consecutive years back-to-back. "numbers add up to nothin'... "

WOS Neil Young's voice.
Canadians (from Ontario esp) have distinctive voices. See also Geddy Lee.

Carlos is the hose. Another Morey fave.

I don't mind seeing Geddy Lee, as long as I don't have to hear him. ;)

Well, he's funny looking, too.

yes, he IS a looker..! I wouldn't have thought he was your type, though. Interesting!
This Santana song is a blast from the past.
.. and this Tarney-Spencer group is another good'n.

No time, Toulouse!

(there's a Monty Python reference for every occasion!)

ETA: heh, I just noticed how the theme song to WKRP ends like a typical radio jingle.
BOS-proxy for Shray to Time Curry's I Do The Rock.
-
BOS3 "WKRP" theme.

Dennis Miller sounds a lot like Herb Tarleck of WKRP.

I've never "done" a rock, but this song is so good I might try it some day.
Ok, Buster Poindexter (David Johansen) was channeling Time Curry, no?
-
VHM VH, dancin' da nite away.
-
BOS5 Joy Division -- is this from '79 or '80?

WKRP was such a great show. One of my cow-orkers was promoted to Manager of Support a year or two back, but there aren't enough real offices for all the management. So the took out a cube wall, and gave him his own two cube space instead. Amused, I told him he should get some tape to further deliniate his "office". And, since he's in his 30s, I had to explain the Les Nessman reference.
Fortunately, he's a good sport.

Given that we heard the Flying Lizards on Tax Day, we didn't need to hear them again until next April. LN.
-
OK, Buffet -- who I like more than most folks here -- is quite unnecessary.

You can have him. :P
Speaking of Ontario-ans, I guess I don't mind Bruce Cockburn's voice, although I can't say I'm crazy over it either.

I Don't Like "I Don't Like Mondays" on Fridays.
-
BOS, Boomtown Rats
That's what I hate about Fridays -- it's almost Monday again. :o

I Don't Like "I Don't Like Mondays" on Fridays.
not so much on Wednesdays or Saturdays, too.
I don't mind Jimmy Buffeet. :)

Yeah, nice to hear this, but they did a few other songs (not many, but some). Would be great to hear Transmission, for instance. Love Will Tear Us Apart belongs in the "Rock songs that tranlsate well into lounge act songs" list (see also, Door's Touch Me)
re: the date (from wikipedia):
"It was written in August 1979, and debuted when the band supported Buzzcocks on their UK tour in September and October 1979. ....
The song was first released in June 1980"

I'll have to catch this later - anyone know who got BOS?

Listening to today's set on SoundCloud...

Wow, I had the WKRP theme in my upcoming 1980 set.
I originally had a Joy Division tune in my 1980 set (the 12" single version of "She's Lost Control"),
but I dropped it in favor of another New Wave track.

RR said it was a tie b/w Neil Young and Tim Curry.
