Title: RIP James Gandolfini, 51
Post by: urth on June 19, 2013, 04:41:38 PM
Supposedly the actor died of a heart attack in Italy.

(Given the number of Internet death hoaxes we've started to see of late, I am not entirely convinced this is true, but he does seem like the type that would die young of heart failure.)

sadly this turned out to be true. I was a BIG fan, and also thought he was sexy as all hell.  RIP Tony.

I really hate when people younger than I die like this.   :(

No kidding. Being that you and I are about the same age, Rod, we probably had the same reaction on learning he was only 51.  Similar to how I felt earlier this year when I realized I had out-lived Jerry Garcia, who died just after his 53rd birthday. Yeeesh.

thought, for example, that when Mozart was my age, he had been dead for two years."

Of all people, you'd think I wouldn't still be surprised about Garcia being 53.  It seemed wrong when I read it, but it's not.  That really is way too soon.

What's hard for me to fathom was Kurt Cobain dying at 27. Somebody that age now would've been born in 1986.
