wow, are we getting more '60s sets or what?
TOTHK: the Fab Four, with a worthy B-side rarity: "Baby You're a Rich Man". BOS1.
-
TOTHK - The Beatles "Baby You're A Rich Man"
Tuned to a natural E...
-
"I'm So Glad" -- BOS2. Well, this has started well, at least.

Lennon's jab at Brian Epstein. And a bustout -- at least per the Shraytabase it is.
-
Cream "I'm So Glad"
-
The Pre-Fab Four aka The Monkees "Pleasant Valley Sunday"
-
Well, "Pleasant Valley" isn't exactly rare but it's still delightful, despite my "rich songwriters dissing materialism" complaint.
-
OK, my first LN: "Gimme Some Lovin' "
-
Spencer Davis Group "Gimme Some Lovin'"
-

I would have played the flip side: Boyce/Hart's "Words"

yeah, I don't recall AL playing it either. The flip of "All You Need is Love"? I remember it being one of the collected recent 45s on Magical Mystery Tour.
BOS3 Jimi. If 6 was 9, there'd be 69 for everybody.
-
Hendrix "If 6 Was 9"
-
JB breaks out inna sweat, yo. BOS4. Maceo! Brotha!
-
James Brown "Cold Sweat"
-
For gawd's sake, Mrs Robinson! You're a Twentieth Century FOX!
Segue of the day. And VHM Doors.
-
The Graduate into The Doors "20th Century Fox"
-
At least three solid BOSes so far: the Beatles tune, the Hendrix, and Cold Sweat. And a couple of others that would have been so in lesser sets (the Monkees and Doors tunes).
Oh and Twentieth Century Fox is another bustout, so far as I can tell.
-
OMFG: uber-BOS5 and proxy of gaz, "Embryonic Journey". WNEW-FM's standard "just before the network news at the top o' the hour" instrumental.
-
Jefferson Airplane "Embryonic Journey"
New PD influencing the setlist today?
-
Damn, I lurve "Dandelion". BOS6.
-
Stones "Dandelion"

indeed, I was about to say whoever put this together was actually alive in '67, and/or has been reading the recent criticisms of ho-hum sets.
-
LN2 "Soul Man". But generally this has been pretty swell. Play it, Steve!
-
Sam & Dave "Soul Man"
-
No "songs too short" in the backsell... Nicely done, Renee!
-
sounds like a decent set.
-
sounds like a decent set.
better than decent, and you know I rarely say that any more.
-
Renee sez Stones get BOS.

I'll have to catch the replay, but yeah this is head over heels better than what we've gotten recently.
The true test will be for a late 90's set, speaking of which, we haven't had anything later than 1990 in the last 8 sets.
-
Stupid meeting. I will BOS Jimi, just from reading the posts.

great set, IMHO. Are we on a lucky streak or is BP bringing something else to the table?

as I said on FB, it's hard to say whether this is a trend or an outlier. I mean Monday's '82 was pretty bad and yesterday '78 was pretty good. Tomorrow's probably our '90s set for the week.

Perhaps I wasn't comparing it to how pedestrian her '67 sets have been. If I had Cap'n Jack's energy, I'd whip up a '67 set too! But "If 6 Was 9" is so wonderful to hear on the radio, isn't it?

I left the GS group... Needed a little break ... I'll be back at some point, and will prob be here more than I had been.

Lennon's jab at Brian Epstein. And a bustout -- at least per the Shraytabase it is.
AL played it twice in 2010. The bustouts appear to be "If 6 Was 9" and "20th Century Fox."
I note that the clips and sounders from DM ("Who's got the Beatles?," "whether home or in
your car, this is where you really are") and AL (Slicker byYardley) continued to mined for use
in current sets.

Well, "Pleasant Valley" isn't exactly rare but it's still delightful, despite my "rich songwriters dissing materialism" complaint.
"Presenting honest stories of working people as told by rich Hollywood stars!"
I never saw this song as a diss on materialism, rather a lament about suburban complacency and
Thoreau's "lives of quiet desperation."

I also had that recollection upon hearing this. One of the morning jocks often used "Peaches En
Regalia" as well. And was it Pete Fornatale or Jonathon Schwartz that ended their slot with
Vince Guaraldi's "Cast Your Fate to the Wind?" Ah, the golden days of FM radio...

This is one of the songs on my "pop oboe" list. Pop flute was easy; pop french horn is a bit harder.

Ah, back when he was good! According to wikipedia, that's a flugelhorn. My vinyl is not readily
accessible, so I can't check the credits there.
