Didn't hear the promo and nobody on FB has said anything. '60s would be nice but I'm steeling myself for 2002.
well this is a nice surprise: '71. Proxy of shray, Moodies.

1971 - TOTHK - The Moody Blues "The Story Is In Your Eyes"
-
Rod's losing it. er, I mean, you. Losing you.
-
Rod Stewart "(I Know) I'm Losing You"
-
Decent TOTHK and not one that we've heard much--it's in the Shraytabase just once, in the fall of 2002. (No recollection if AL ever played it, and I don't have that information at hand.) So safe to say this is due. A worthy BOS candidate.
So with DC out of the picture, I wonder who's programming the sets now? I suppose it could be RR, but...nah.
BOS2 Faces at the top of their game, I'm Losin' You. (Clarification: I guess this is on EPTAS, so technically a Rod Stewart song. But I'm pretty sure this song has Faces backing him.)

This could easily be a DC set , as he probably mapped them out a week or 2 in advance. But 2 '70s visits in one week (even if one was a "classic") is pretty cool.
And OMG -- a relevant-to-current-events Doors clip. Ray Manzarek in da house. Even if the chosen song "Love Her Madly" is hardly necessary.
-
The Doors "Love Her Madly"
-
Marvin Gaye "What's Going On"
-
"What's Going On" is not exactly rare, either, much as I adore this LP as a whole. would love to have it followed by Carole King's "Brother, Brother", but that ain't happening.
-
VHM "Bargain", just for not being "Baba O'Riley" or "Won't Get Fooled"
-
The Who "Bargain"
-
VHM "Bargain", just for not being "Baba O'Riley" or "Won't Get Fooled"
I remember the first time I heard Who's Next. Couldn't believe all these songs were on one album. I'd love to hear My Wife in a set sometime, but I am good with Bargain.
-
Al Green "Tired Of Being Alone"
-

I second all those ideas ;D
How is DC out of the loop? Vacation? Fired?
-
BOS Rev Al "Tired of Being Alone", always preferable to "Let's Stay Together" IMHO.

I prefer "Look What You've Done for Me" to either of those, but any Al is good Al, so I'll take what I can get.

sounds like it's you who's out of the loop. ;) DC got shitcanned the other day. The Cumulus ax spares no one.
-
Loggins & Messina "Danny's Song"
-
Our rarity of the day: Loggins & Messina, Danny's Song. VHM. Can't quite pull the trigger on BOS, although it's nice to hear. (I reserve the right to change my mind on that.)
-
Jimi Hendrix "Angel"

Wow, I sure am out of it. At least I didn't get fired. Did I? Guys? Guys? *Crickets*...

Jimi Hendrix "Angel"
Sweet!
-
VHM L&M; BOS2 Jimi.
-
BOS3 Last Picture Show. uh, interesting segue there to "Bitch" (!) Pavlovian BOS4 Stones.

Stones "Bitch"

Not bad, IMO. I picture much revelry and celebration over in GS-land.
-
Stones "Bitch"
"Feeling drunk, too stubborn Scotty!" and "Feeling hungry, can't see the reason. Just had a hot beef steak!"
-Mondegreens from the lyric sheet brought to Random Numbers rehearsal when we were learning to play this song.
BOS. Great horny tune.
-
Mark-Almond "The City"
ETA: Nice looooong number to close the set (a la "Ballet for a Girl in Buchannon")
-
ooo! Mark-Almond, Not to be confused with Marc Almond. BOS5 "The City" This seems very DC to me.

Nice that they're letting this one play all the way out. Rarity #2, and another BOS.

Surprisingly only about 6 weeks since we last visited 1971, on April 8. Two bands repeated (The Who and the Doors) but otherwise very different sets.
1. Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen - Hot Rod Lincoln
2. T. Rex - Bang A Gong (Get It On)
(Movie: Harold and Maude)
3. The Who - Baba O'Riley
(KSAN "Drug Report")
4. John Prine - Illegal Smile
5. Traffic - Light Up Or Leave Me Alone
6. The Temptations - Just My Imagination
7. Lee Michaels - Do You Know What I Mean
8. Led Zeppelin - Rock and Roll
9. Tommy James - Draggin' The Line
(News: The Doors talking about L.A. Woman)
10. The Doors - LA Woman
-
Per Renee: 3-way tie for BOS: Al Green, Jimi Hendrix, and Mark-Almond.

AL played "The Story In Your Eyes" once, on 26-May-11.

"Being crazy about a woman like her is always the right thing to do."
Great quote!
And haven't we all known one or two like that in our lives. Sigh.

(News: Israel / war)
5. The Who - Bargain

Looks like RR has been raiding old clips again. Can no one identify the speaker of the quote
about Israel and war? It appears on a couple of my DM '71 sets, and I can't figure it out either.
Google hasn't been a help.
