I'm assuming today is our '90s day.
ETA: RR's clue is Silence of the Lambs, so... '91 it is.
oy: instant TOTHWOS Genesis, "I Can't Dance"
-
TOTHK - Genesis can't dance
Late start 10:07
-
TOTHK - Genesis can't dance

This does NOT cook. WOS.
-
R.E.M. "Shiny Happy People"
Preceded by Dr. John's "My Opinionation" (Blossom)
-
In my opinionation, the theme from Blossom is incredibly annoying.
LN1: REM, tho' it coulda been worse I suppose.

Heh. I *can* dance, but not to this.
-
heh, i don't mind this. Haven't heard it in a long while, but despite the irrefutable idea that Genesis was often a crap-pop machine after 1980, I've never found the strength to write them off 100%. Of course, i haven't heard it in a long time because maybe it sucks so bad that no one wants to play it. After all, Phil does sing "I can't dance, I can't sing." blah blah
heh, it's Kate Pierson featuring Mike & Michael from R.E.M.!
-
VHM Rembrandts before they had Friends.
-
Rembrandts "Just The Way It Is Baby"
-
Rembrandts "Just The Way It Is Baby"
best Crowded House impersonation I've heard in a long time.
-
Jesus Jones "Right Here Right Now"
Expecting an EMF "Unbelievable" twin-spin, harkening back to '91 KITS airplay
-
uber-uber-uber-LN2 Jeebus Jones, which KFOG plays 27 times a week.
-
Spin Doctors have Jimmy Olsen's Blues
-
This Spin Docs song came out in '91? I'll always associate it with '92.

I can't listen to this guy sing any more. He's awful, especially when he tries to improvise.
-
Crash Test Dummies "Superman's Song"
-
This Spin Docs song came out in '91? I'll always associate it with '92.
The album came out in '91, and this song charted in '92. A RR specialty.
-
LN3: Crash Test Dummies, another I associate with '92. But I guess that was a clever segue.
-
A Superman Twin spin!
-
LN3: Crash Test Dummies, another I associate with '92. But I guess that was a clever segue.
I think this is N. I haven't heard it in many years, and it's a nice Superman twin-spin.

RR should have saved it for a '92 set! ;)

I'll second that. Did Dave play it that much? I did a quick search in this forum and only found one previous spin, from 2006.
-
Seal "Crazy"
-
can't we all just get along with Renee?
uh... no.
LN4: Seal. Bitch be cray-cray!
-
LN3: Crash Test Dummies, another I associate with '92. But I guess that was a clever segue.
eh, close enough. RR is working with an 18 month plus or minus.
Hey, They're Canadian, too! Let's see, an all-Canadian comatose set might feature Crash Test Dumais, Cowboy Junkies. There have to be others we can include, but I'm already falling asleep.
Seal, you so CWAZEEE!

I have this in my itunes and it comes up (or used to come up) often enough that its really familiar, but since I like it, I consider it N, too.
-
Now Seal, there's an unnecessary tune, still in top rotation.

I guess it's just his voice that's LN for me. We were halfway thru the song before I realized it was "Superman" and not "Mmm Mmm Mmm"

well, some of us become narcoleptic at the mere mention of Rushzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Here's one from Crash Test Dummies I really like, maybe because his voice gets all falsetto at times:

This whole set is sounding like a proto-AAA lovefest. DC must be just tumescent with joy today.
-
BOS Robyn Hitchcock!
I hear he's doing a show round here, soon. I wanna go.
-
Dave's favorite movie: Fried Green Tomatoes.
BOS Robyn Hitchcock! "So You Think You're in Love"
-

Blowout BOS! And NTM.
-
Lenny Kravitz "It Ain't Over 'Til It's Over"
-
uber-uber-LN5: Lenny K. And urth's "proto-AAA" comment is right on the money; most of these songs actually were being played by KFOG back then (unlike a lot of '90s sets that are dominated by songs that KFOG ignored but Live 105 played to death).
-
LNny Kravitz.

May 2 @ the Fillmore with the Young Fresh Fellows, Rhett Miller, Colin Meloy & other guests. I would kill to be there.

damn, I was hoping Lenny was #10
LN6 Ms Vega getting remixed. And I adored this song 20 years go, it's like a work of minimalist art... but it's also a KFOG staple even today.
-
DNA featuring Suzanne Vega "Tom's Diner"
-
ok, here's MY über LN, the remix of Suzanne Vega's Tom's Diner.
I don't know.. I just.. ah, crap. Must be her voice.
-
Renee, the only person on Earth who can still get excited about the Spin Doctors.

should be good. Come one down for it! I think there's a strong possibility that Peter Buck, John Paul Jones and/or Nick Lowe will show up. They're buddies w Robyn Hitchcock.
If you're a fan of RH, you should see this movie if you haven't:
Robyn Hitchcock: Sex, Food, Death... and Insects

ETA: that Fillmore link has made my browser crash 3 times.

Buck will def. be there, as he's in Robyn's backing band (the Venus 3) with Bill Rieflin and Scott McCaughey. Also, the following night there's a show @ the Hemlock with Buck and the YFF, and some other band called the Chuckleberries.

May 2 is our wedding anniversary, so if we can swing plane tix we might try to come down.
Oh, and thx for the tip on that film. I think I'd heard a bit about it, but haven't run across it. Quick, to Netflix!

Renee sez REM gets BOS.

wow, banner day for everybody -- birthdays, anniversaries! If anyone decides to go, let's meet up for sure.

Minor addendum: we could've gotten a 1906 Quake set today (Dave used to love to do those) but we didn't. I'm guessing/hoping for the trad Earth Day set on Monday.

I went to the quake ceremony two years ago. Goldurn, it was early.

9. Lenny Kravitz - It Ain't Over Til It's Over
10. DNA w/Suzanne Vega - Tom's Diner

This Spin Docs song came out in '91? I'll always associate it with '92.
And it charted (however briefly) in 93.

DNA featuring Suzanne Vega "Tom's Diner"
Which, of course charted in 1990.

I found four plays by DM and none by AL. But are you sure about 2006? Because not only did I
not see any in that year, even Mmm^4, the only other CTD song played on 10@10, does not
appear in that year.
