That he carried on for so long after he was first stricken with cancer is a bit of a miracle in itself. He was a truly gifted writer.

I recall seeing the Siskel and Ebert show in 78-79 on our local PBS station and thought it was a gas.

Saw him in 2010 when he was in SF to receive an award fromt eh SF Film Society.  It was a fantastic night with many filmmakers there to pay tribute.  My friend did  a little write up here: http://worstshowontheweb.com/content/sfiff-report-ebert-palooza

I don't check my Twitter feed regularly, but when I use to, Roger was probably the most prolific tweeter around.  He had something to say about everything.
