Wow, would not have guessed this year!
Didn't we get a 71 classic when DM was under the weather?
ETA: Yep. Last Tuesday.
Nice start at any rate.
-
I just want to celebrate!

We hardly EVER go from a 70s set to another, back to back. Not complaining at all!
-
Further thought on hearing '71 today: does this mean we get a Labor Day set tomorrow? Cue the Strawbs!

we did -- and an '86 on a recent Friday. Guess nobody's keeping score
The Drive's '71 set was pretty good (based on their log; I couldn't get their player to work). So let's hope Dave steps up.
I just want to sell a brate -- but the market for used brates really sucks right now...

That, presumably, would be Monday -- I remember last year's well. Maybe a vert taste or a A Soul Patrol tomo'w? I'm guessing Dave got LOTS of complaints about the excess of late '80s & '90s "cl***ics" while he was sick. He's making up for it this week.

As well he should!!!!

Y'know, as much as DM professes to be a Beatles (yay!) fan, he rarely passes up a chance to slip a Who song into a set--we seem to hear them at least once a week, particularly in 60s and early 70s sets. Not that I'm complaining.

BOS Neil Young.
Old Man.
love this! Wonder if there will be a Bridge Benefit this year.

BOS, Neil. Listened to this a lot when my dad died, god, 18 years ago...

HM Rod.
-
BOS2 Rod the Mod "Mandolin Wind". Dave's really pulling out all the stops today -- no paint-by-numbers set is this.
-
HM to the second coolest Rod I know.
FIVE!

Dave was probably listening while out resting his voice and the 80/90 sets were equally painful for him!

Cmon Beej, you can DO IT!

You can't accurately portray 1971 without some mention of this album--I remember hearing it almost constantly on the radio in 71-72.
(Btw, the Drive 10@10 included Maggie May. I think Dave trumped that nicely.)
Think Beej'll hit 1K by the end of the set? Bets, anyone?
-
to the bridge! could it be? the looooooong version!
nope.. but a fine set, nonetheless!!
-
bos: abb - just because dave doesn't play them nearly enough.

Smothered steak... smothered STEAK!
I'm betting Dave does his anecdote about JB part 1 & 2, and how you knew it was time to turn the 45 over when he started talking about food...
-

Speaking of landmark posts, I just realized Mike posted his 5000th entry some time in the last 24 hours. You chatterbox, you. :D

-
VHM One Toke Over the Line. Don't hear this too much.
-

ONE!
-
VHM, Brewer & Shipley, another radio staple circa 71. I think Jerry Garcia had something to do with this band, either as a producer or sideman. Or both.
What's next? Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey? (I'd rather hear Smile Away, if I hadda pick...)
-
Oh, what the Hell...
ONE THOUSAND!!

BOS to everything in this here rock and roll stew we call 10@10!

-

BOS4 the Rev Al, "Tired of Being Alone". Me too, Al.
-
Y'know, I was kinda peeved at missing 2/3s of yesterday's set for a meeting, but on the whole, I'm much happier that I didn't miss this one. A fine, fine set indeed.
On the other hand, today I have an 11 o'clock meeting, so y'all will have to catch the bonus cut and report back.
-
a fab set and many congrats to Beej!
