or so we've been told. laissez les bon temps roulez!
-
And this is a week with 2 potential theme sets, what with Valentine's on Thurs. Hope Rosalie is still on duty for that one.
-
Any expectations?
Hoping to hear Professor Longhair, The Meters, Allen Toussaint, Lee Dorsey, and Ernie K-Doe, for starters. :)

For Christmas I received a New Orleans Funk 1960-1975 compilation which has many if not all of those. One of my best gifts EVAH.
Will listen to the replay... I have high hopes.

Woiks fa me!

Of course, a Mardi Gras set doesn't necessarily mean all N'awlins artists. I'm sure Paul Simon's "Take Me to the Mardis Gras" will appear. Possibly "Havin' a Party"?
2-way pock-a-way, away!
-
Dr. John's goin' back to New Orleans
-
Dr John & the Nevilles! BOS1 for this delightful TOTHK.
I'd love it if we got the theme from Treme.
-
The Hawketts (featuring Art Neville) "Mardi Gras Mambo"

Dunno whose "Mardi Gras Mambo" this is, but me likey. BOS2.

The Meters "Hey Pocky A-Way"

I still don't know what "hey pocky way" means. Bur BOS3 the Meters.
Apparently the Dead covered this -- here's hoping I never hear their version ;)

The Neville Brothers "Congo Square"
-
The Dixie Cups "Iko Iko"!
-
BOS4 the fabulous Dixie Cups, "Iko Iko"

This was the original version by The Hawketts, featuring a young Art Neville, released on Chess Records back in March 1955.

Fats Domino is walking to New Orleans
I saw Fats Domino at the old Circle Star Theater in San Carlos. Great show, and a great improvement from the opening act...Bo Diddley. He was disappointing.
-
Professor Longhair "Mardi Gras in New Orleans" (aka "Go To The Mardi Gras")
-
This is one set that needs to go to 11. Song #9 and we're not even to 10:30 yet.
BOS8 Fess.
-
The Professor (w/out Mary Ann).

Props to Rosalie for (mostly) sticking to Louisiana-based artists. Not sure if the Band qualifies, and I'm pretty sure Little Feat doesn't, but they got the right vibe so slack is granted.

And she surely put this together out of her own head -- doubt if Renee woulda been able to.

This would have been my +1, Macca & Wings backed by the Meters (recorded Mardi Gras 1975) "My Carnival":

(you can see Ernie K-Doe dancing along with the McCartneys)

At the very least I would think that she had a lot of input, which is more than I expect Renee does. I'm sure DC had to sign off on it, but I think that applies to all sets these days.

Rosalie sez Fats Domino leading BOS voting.

It was a great set. I'm sure Rosalie picked them all. She has more knowledge about this stuff than DC or anyone at that station, I would wager.
I felt so multi-culti listening to KFOG today! Laissez les bons temps rouler, Bros and Hos!

Can't wait to hear the replay tonight. How was the GS reaction? Were there complaints about the lack of Springsteen? :P

not much activity, number-wise, on GS, but what there was enthusiastic. AW was right on it with the list-making efforts. He knew the songs.

Just got the opportunity to check it... wow, it must've been impressive, given the lack of bitching!

Hos!
What's that?
The set may have been multi-culti, but this board has not been multi-gendered for some time.
