per the clue, "the year of Twister (the game)". Hard for '66 to sixty-suck, but Renee can always find a way.

Guaranteed to be a quickie, too. This is one occasion it would be nice to go to 11 (or 12). Not betting the farm on it however.

One of the ironies of AL's 10@10 legacy is that she STARTED the "let's go to 11 (or 12)!" meme and then The Peak and the Drive copied it... and then DC came along and made her stop doing it.

And that, my friends, is known as "Constatining".
-
Rolling Stones lead off.
-
"Mother's Little Helper"
-
Rolling Stones lead off.
Stream several minutes behind.
But BOS "Mothers Little Helper" -- instant cake and frozen steak for breakfast!
-
"Mother's Little Helper"... not a frequent flier methinks.
-
Bob Dylan in the two slot. "Just Like A Woman"
-
Rolling Stones lead off.
And listening thru the tinny speakers on my laptop just enhances the experience--sounds just like my 9v transistor radio that I had back in the day.
BOS1 The Stones. They really were the world's greatest rock & roll band.
-
Bob Dylan in the two slot. "Just Like A Woman"
A fine start.
-
BOS2 Dylan.
-
So far so good.... better than the other way round, undoubtedly.
-
Tune 3: "7 and 7 is" by Love
-
Yardbirds "Shape of Things"
-
SOng 4: "Shapes Of Things" by the Yardbirds. A bit of a FF, but still VHM.
-
Tune 3: "7 and 7 is" by Love
A nugget if ever there was one. Hoping we get a few more of this genre. BOS3.
VHM for the Yardbirds. Not that it's not great, just more frequently heard.
-
BOS3 Love, "7 & 7 Is"
BOS4 Yardbirds, "Shapes of Things"
-
Beach Boys "God Only Knows"
-
Song 5: "God Only Knows"... sorry, this is a bit of a comedown compared to the previous four.
-
LN but still lovely: "Gawd Only Knows". Proxy of Irish Greg.
-
Batman followed by Donovan "Sunshine Superman"
-
most egregious LN: Donovan. The man has so many wonderful songs but I never need hear this or "Mellow Yellow" ever again.
-
RR will never play "Legend Of A Cowgirl" in a 1997 set.
HM Donovan, unnecessary as it is.
-
Not trying to diminish the value of these songs in their time, but since the Yardbirds song we've been heading into Oldies 103.7-land. BOS the first 3, and downhill from there.

And song 7 is the Supremes' "You Can't Hurry Love", further underscoring your point.

Listen to the rockin' harpsichord, just to get something different out of this tune.
-
What's this weird version of "Can't Hurry Love"? There's some strange organ sound in there...

indeed -- it's in my all-time Motown Top Ten, which is why i really didn't need to hear it today.
-
most egregious LN: Donovan.
Renee played this the first time she visited '66 back in October.

possibly the stereo mix?
-
The Seeds "Pushing Too Hard"
-
VHM Seeds, an all-time-fave nugget
-
Neil Diamond "Solitary Man"
-
VHM Seeds, an all-time-fave nugget
It's punk rock, dude!
-
VHM Seeds, an all-time-fave nugget
Sky Saxon was weird.
-
Neil D is solitary, man.
-
And we close out with "Good Lovin'".... LN
-
Young Rascals need Good Lovin'
-
Neil D is solitary, man.
Sounded good today.
-
Rascals see their doctor, he prescribes a course of intercourse. VHM.
-
Really could have used a twin spin today.
-
Young Rascals need Good Lovin'
Which way to the sock hop, man?
-
Good/necessary:
1 A/A
2 A/A-
3 A/A
4 A/B
5 C/D-
6 A/D
7 B+/C-
8 A/A
9 A/B
10 B+/D
Definitely one of Renee's better efforts.
-

Not a bad set per se, but if DC would just turn the knob a few clicks further away from 103.7 -- say, nix any two of the Donovan, Supremes, and Rascals tunes -- and dig a bit deeper (like we never say that?) this set could have been exponentially better.
