Gotta assume it's either '60s or '90s today.
the year of Jurassic Park, sez Tim -- yup, '93 -- a year we visited less than a month ago. Jus' sayin'.

I'm going to listen as I drive down i5 on the way to NAMM

Good start with Belly Feeding the Tree.
Yes, this is a good song, and appropriate for this set.

I should've predicted that DDR would mention a PJ album. Guaranteed.

Buena is an awesome song.
I'll give an HM for "Euro Trash Girl".
-
Oh, "Round Here" was played last time. My bad (and bad memory too!)
And the last 1993 set isn't so much bad as being full of frequent fliers.
-
VHM "Eurotrash Girl" -- not exactly rare but it'll do for now.

Could it be the 8+ minute version? How many 10@10 appearances has it made?

I'm with you guys; always liked this song.

I liked this year a lot at the time, and it is the year of Nuthin' but a 'G' Thang, which has a radio edit. Of course there were also blues tunes from has-been artists that no one cared about then, and no one remembers now.
-
Wow, we're already on page 2 during song 2 in a '90's year. Is everyone else sick, too?

Can't speak for anyone else, but I am. (Is there a little sneezing emoticon up there?)

It's not in the Shraytabase, so apparently Dave never played it but I suspect AL gave it a couple of spins. Appears to be the long version.

did you get a flu shot this year, young man?

Concrete Blonde "Mexican Moon"

Alas, no. Would it have helped?
-
sheesh: first repeat from last time, "Mexican Moon". ay-yi-yi indeed.
-
Songs 1-2-3: good rainy day comfort food.

Alas, no. Would it have helped?
I've gotten one every year for the last decade... I've hade some mild colds but nothing approaching the flu.
-
Sheryl Crow "Leaving Las Vegas"
-
What was that clip with all the durations?
-
Sheryl 'Ho, "Leaving Lance Armstrong"

I've got a cold, with which I could go to work, but I've got two sick kids, too.
"Everything's gonna be all right. Rockabye!"
-
I have not gotten a flu shot, or the flu, in many years now. I just drink lots of hot tea and take vitamin C.
-
What was that clip with all the durations?
an ad for an amusement park, I'm thinking.
-
eeek: Hiatt. I liked this one at the time. No, notsomuch.
-
John Hiatt "Perfectly Good Guitar"
-
Yesterday we heard a sounder with DM's voice. Today so far we've heard one with Don Pardo, and AL's beep-bip-boop sounder that she used in place of the big wheel. Recycling week on 10@10!
-
eeek: Hiatt. I liked this one at the time. No, notsomuch.
KFOG must have really sucked between 1987-1996.
-
Well, it's not a Round Here repeat.

indeed -- AL had recently been using that sounder (it's from The Daily Show's "This Week in God") for her Radio Rewind bit on K-Fox, which apparently is no more.
NOOOOOOOOOOO!!! WOS Sideshow Bob and "Mr Jones".
-
Counting Crows "Mr. Jones" -- wow, already on page 3 in year 1993
-
Chris Isaak "San Francisco Days" -- was played not too long ago for the SF set on New Year's
-
eeek: Hiatt. I liked this one at the time. No, notsomuch.

Hee. Actually, they were a decent Triple-A, or maybe what Triple-A was back then was better. Fewer overplayed "classics" (which was supposed to be one of Triple-A's selling points), No-repeat workdays, and what new stuff they played was genuinely adult. Also a tad boring, but if you wanted upbeat alternative, that's what Live 105 was for.
-
Chris Isaak "San Francisco Days"
I'll give this a VHM -- I really did like him then, and this CD was pretty nice overall.
-

When I lived in SF I got them religiously (as every Muni/BART/public transit rider should). Since we've been in Oregon I haven't been as adamant about it, but being in SF the last few weeks I obviously put myself back in harm's way. Went to my nephew's school play last weekend; I'm thinking that's where I picked this up.
-
Here's my Buena. I'm not sorry to hear this.
-
2nd repeat from last month: Morphine, "Buena". Yeah, it's good, but come on Renee.

I think the "genuinely adult" part was what I was talking about.
-
WOS2 10K Maniacs, one of the least-necessary cover versions EVAH.
-
I remember this Nat Merchant cover arousing disgust on the old AL page.
-
2nd repeat from last month: Morphine, "Buena". Yeah, it's good, but come on Renee.
So we're at two flat-out repeats and two different songs by artists that also appeared last time (Cracker, CCrows). Bad record keeping. People notice this shit, and I don't just mean us and the G-Snipes.
-
10,000 Maniacs "Because The Night"
-
Umm, this is a pretty unnecessary cover of the perfect "Because the Night". Natalie ain't adding nothing to the song.
-

And disgust right here, right now

It was great music to listen to if you were at work or at home doing errands – occasionally you’d hear something new, and you weren’t subject to KOIT-like programming. Once in awhile you might even get introduced to something you’d develop a passion for.
But yeah, I can definitely see how a constant lineup of John Hiatt (a personal guilty displeasure), Van Morrison, etc. could bore one to tears.
-
Another repeat -- RHCP "Soul To Squeeze"
-
The Coneheads movie is way underrated. Seriously.
And here's our *THIRD* repeat: RHCPs. Unforgiveable..
-
This is the most-commented on thread in the RR era, and the most since a 1975 set generated 56 responses 4/24/12.
EDIT: I'll suggest this thread will at least match the 4/24/12 show to be the most commented-on thread during the Gsnipe era (commenced 3/1/12). A 1969 set in late February 2012 got 57 responses.
-
Bad record keeping.
Or the playlist is really that narrow.
I probably like RHCP more than most, but not this overplayed snoozer.
-
River Phoenix died>BuenaBuenaBuena? Oy.
I'm still cool with most of this set, except for Mr. Jones and RHCP.
-

Numbers inflated during the Virus Era. This thread won't make the HOF as a result.

Make that three flat-out repeats. WOS RHCPs.
-
And here's our *THIRD* repeat:
Have they asked for requests yet in the Renee era?
-
Counting Crows and RHCP 2-way tie for BOS sez Renee
-
And here's our *THIRD* repeat:
Have they asked for requests yet in the Renee era?
No. DC was *very* happy to see that aspect of 10@10 go away, I'm sure. Too labor-intensive if nothing else (and DC and RR are waaaay too busy to care about Foghead input).
-
And here's our *THIRD* repeat:
Have they asked for requests yet in the Renee era?
No, but somehow I've gotten two frequently-requested-but-never-played-during-the-AL-era-requests in. (Alphaville - Big in Japan in 1984 & The Blue Nile - Headlights on the Parade in 1989)
-
1. Belly - Feed The Tree
2. Cracker - Euro-Trash Girl
3. Concrete Blonde - Mexican Moon *
(Commercial: you'll spend 24.5 years sleeping. 14.5 years working, etc)
4. Sheryl Crow - Leaving Las Vegas
5. John Hiatt - Perfectly Good Guitar
6. Counting Crows - Mr. Jones
7. Chris Isaak - San Francisco Days
(News: River Phoenix dead)
8. Morphine - Buena *
9. 10,000 Maniacs - Because The Night
(Movie: Coneheads - I come from France)
10. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Soul To Squeeze *
* - repeats from previous 1993 set, less than a month ago.
-
And here's our *THIRD* repeat:
Have they asked for requests yet in the Renee era?
No, that's been a big part of the disgruntlement. Shoot, how hard would it be to pick the songs in advance, set up a token request thread with 1-2 suggestions per customer, then watch as people get stoked as their "requests" are played? No doubt many "requests" WOULD be played, given the high volume of LN's, FF's, Trinas, Foos, and what have you.
-
Too labor-intensive if nothing else (and DC and RR are waaaay too busy to care about Foghead input).
Sarcasm, right?
-
Since "God Only Knows" was played in today's 1966 set, it reminded me of a trio of songs I would like to have heard in the 1993 set:
Elvis Costello & the Brodsky Quartet "God Only Knows" (live at Town Hall)
Frank Black "Hang On To Your Ego"
Tears For Fears "Brian Wilson Said"
But RR/DC weren't taking requests. Oh well...

I'll play!
Dada, "Here Today Gone Tomorrow"
Judybats, "Incredible Bittersweet"
Depeche Mode, "Walking In My Shoes"
-
My longstanding 1993 wishlist that I trotted out every time AL did that year:
I Don’t Wanna Fight (Tina Turner)
Show Me Love (Robin S)
I’ll Do anything for Love (MeatLoaf)
-7- (Prince)
Mr Wendal (Arrested Development)
Moving on Up (M People)
Can’t Get Enuf of Your Love (Taylor Dayne)
of these, only the Prince tune ever got played.
-
Captain Hollywood Project - More and More
Culture Beat - Mr. Vain
The Cure - Purple Haze
The Catherine Wheel - Crank
-
The Cure - Purple Haze
wow, I forgot about that Hendrix covers CD (Stone Free) -- surprised we haven't heard more from it on 10@10, actually. Not that I'd want to hear the Spin Doctors, but still.

I'm going to listen as I drive down i5 on the way to NAMM
The National Association of Music Mavens? ;)
North American Music Masochists?
National Association of Music Merchants, for those unfamiliar with the letters. It was strange, driving down I-5, being able to listen to KFOG via an app on my iPhone. What a modern world we live in! The app provided all the song titles for me, since many songs are way outside my level of familiarity.
