Back 2 Good, both not 1996, and it's the most boring effort MB20 has to offer (which is saying something).

I like Back 2 Good well enough, and everything else played so far, but we need some more N's.  At least the Cake song wasn't one of their most LN.

Except Sheryl Crow, Y&S

I feel a lot of Y&S's coming on, but I'm gonna call all of 'em out individually, by gum.

Interesting Ted K. clip.

Here's that 6 Underground song. I liked it the first ten times I heard it.

I was thinking the Sneaker Pimps are a classic one-hit wonder, but research reveals they had another song that was a top-25 single in the UK. I cannot recall another song besides 6 Underground that got one iota of Stateside airplay, however.

I like it too, but it's one of those songs that's been popping up in KFOG's regular recurrent rotation a gazillion times as an "oh wow" song and therefore isn't terribly N on 10@10 anymore.

Another KROQ/Live 105 '96 staple, this one that samples BB King. I also liked it the first ten times I heard it, then Y&S. These last two songs remind of my drive to my dreary '96 job in a year that was not that fun for me. Sigh. Sledgehammers (to the face).

Standingoutsideabrokenphoneboothwithmoneyinmyhand...very competent segue from 6 Underground, I must say, but we really need something a lore more bustout-y.

And that's not the Eels, although it's closer than the other ones.

Edit: and that's definitely not the Wallflowers. :-/  Y&S Indeed.

Aaaaahhhhh!!!! These nasty Sledgehammers keep on coming. Novocaine for the Soul. Usually I wouldn't complain about 10@10 raiding the "Alternative" playlist in the '90's (it was a damn sight better than what was on AAA that decade), but '96 is an exception.

Fourth one in a row now, with Wallflowers. I'll bet that rocked the AAA stations at the time, though, too.

Crap, now there's an exploded diaper in our washing machine. This set just keeps getting worse and worse.

I like this Beck song, but it's kind of the '90's equivalent of Layla or Happy Together in terms of airplay.

Renee might have picked out these songs all by herself. Let's see if she's more chuffed than usual at the end.

She's closing with two "Alternative" radio classics, Beck and now Sublime, that I still like after multiple hundred listens, but these are really unchallenging choices.

Sublime...wow, saving the most egregious LN for the end.

"the 10@10 committee decided we should go by album release date."

Nope. Still sounds like she's on autopilot.

2. Shawn Colvin - Get Out Of This House
(Movie: Fargo. Oh, Yah!)

5. Sneaker Pimps - 6 Underground
6. Primitive Radio Gods - Standing Outside a Broken Phone Booth

9. Beck - Where It's At
10. Sublime - What I've Got

damn, that was weak even for Renee/DC.

Big Fingers, this is a quote from a FB User on the daily 10@10 KFOG page thread: "Is this a computer generated post?"

That's the best dis yet.

DW from FB posted a complaint on the KFOG page about the frequency of the flights of most songs these days. This is my "put your money where your mouth is, KFOG" response:

No response, but at least you didn't get yelled at, D[W]. How about this KFOG Radio: if the ratings are flat or down on 10@10, maybe you could take D[W]'s suggestion under consideration; if the ratings are up with the more well-worn songs, then post some proof, and we old-timers will grumble to ourselves or cry in our beer or something.

Yeah, they're not going to respond.
