feh.
It always feels like we just did these late-'80s years, but it's been 7 weeks since '87 last reared its ugly head.
The Pinko Floyds to start -- LN1.
-
LN2 "Mandinka".

LN2 "Mandinka".
This is a Sledgehammer for me (one year later than the original). ETA: re-checked the glossary, and it's probably more of a Zeitgeist.

It sounded like the B-52s to me. Was it?
-
BOS Broooce, "One Step Up". Best of an overplayed lot, I'm guessing, tho' a surprise would be welcome.

Sinead
an extremely frequent flyer, going back to the Morey era.

I love George but "When We Was Fab" is yet another overexposed hit.
-
Robbie Robertson.
-
I like Strangelove. I'll BOS it. BOS2 to RR - Showdown at Big Sky.
-
Take back Tom Petty. WOS. and LN 4 or 5
-
One year before the Wilburys album, so I guess we'll have to be "content" with solo efforts. ETA: And Robbie Robertson, "jamm"ed between the Wilburys is cut from the same 60's --> 80's cloth.
-
Hiatt goes to Memphis.
-
This is Petty's only album with a bunch of good songs, IMO...but this song is not one of them. WOS

Dang, some of us were young in the 80's. You'd never know it by the 10@10 picks for these years.
(I make some version of this same complaint for every late 80's year.)

I'm with ya. Some bubblegum pop would really help this set.
-
VHM a lesser-played U2 track. But they're obligatory in some form or other in '87.
-
This is my favorite U2 song (and my wife watched all episodes of the TV series of the same name on Netflix streaming recently).

Or something angry!

BOS2 Smiths in a coma.

BOS2 Smiths in a coma.
This is as "alternative" as it gets for late 80's 10@10.
-
Best FB comment: "this set was in a coma"
"ohhh Maaaaannn..." -- must RR say this after EVERY set?
-

Sinead and U2 BOS, though I considered the former wimpy and the latter a guilty pleasure at the time (when I was a college DJ)

I found this one a lot more listenable than yesterday's. Perhaps because even though most of them were 10@10 FF's, they weren't necessarily KFOG FF's.
