I have a '60s hunch today -- it would make for a Sixties Trifecta with the Peak and the Drive -- but more likely '90s. Any word about a Foghead Xmas Card for Friday or Monday?
eek: it's our first 2000 set of the RR era.
WOS1 Matchbox 20.

Or then again....
What's the Sound doing today?
-
BOS1 Bent by Matchbox TWENTY. ;) :P
Track 2: quite the snoozy rarity, The Door by Keb' Mo'.

that was my first thought too but they're doing 1982 which for them is just as bad -- AOR crapola, probably.
VHM Keb' Mo' (was that enuf apostrophes?)

wow, hard to believe Knopfler's "What it is" is a dozen years old. I liked it then but it's LN now by virtue of constant KFOG rotation.

I had that reaction too, so I'm going to BOS2 it.
Just for fun, let's see how this set stacks up with AL's 2000 set from Jan. this year:
1. Smash Mouth- Then The Morning Comes
2. Dandy Warhols- Bohemian Like You
3. Steely Dan- Cousin Dupree
4. Five for Fighting- Easy Tonight
5. Elliott Smith- In The Lost and Found (Honky Bach)/The Roost
6. No Doubt- Simple Kind of Life
7. Mark Knopfler- What It Is
8. Soggy Bottom Boys- Man of Constant Sorrow (B.O.S!)
9. Macy Gray- I Try
10. The Hives- Main Offender
-
OMG. Despite still being all over Live 105, hearing Linkin Park on 10@10 is a sheer surprise & non-snoozy. BOS3
WOS Yellow.

I think Linkin Park are horrid so I can't BOS them, but props for thinking outside the KFOG box. We need an acronym for that - IHIBAWR, "I Hate It, But A Worthy Rarity" ;)
agreed on "Yellow" -- uber-uber-uber-LN.
-
FYI the Sound's '82 set so far:
"Rock the casbah"
"Eye in the Sky"
"I Melt With You"
"Edge of 17"
Oy.
-
That robotic "the year two-thousand" bumper they're using is pretty cheesy sounding. Did AL use the same one when she visited this year?

no, it's new. and yes, it's pretty awful.
WOS2 Lifehouse.
-
I like the Lifehouse song but didn't need to hear that version. LN23DD
-
WOS3 Doors Down. Eeek.

Is that what this shite is? Oy vey.

Oh, Al.
VHM BNLs at their most appealing.
-
BOS4 Five for Fighting, Easy Tonight.

WOS4 Five For Fighting
I had to google this one -- did KFOG play it at the time?
-

OK, I was torn between IDing that as Shawn Mullins or them. Thx for the confirm.
And now who's this sounding vaguely Bono-like? How many of these songs were on the KFOG playlist circa 2000?

yes -- he does seem to be channeling Mr Vox. KFOG def played Knopfler, Keb mo, Coldplay and the BNLs and (I *think*) Lifehouse..
-
And the obligatory Dandy Warhols, a '99/'00 frequent-flier of the first order, tho' I do like it alot. From one of KFOG's occasional "we really need to be more like Live 105" periods which were always short-lived.
-
Second repeater from AL's last 2K visit. Dandy Warhols--Portland in the house!
-
FFF was big on AAA during that song and Superman (It's Not Easy); I wasn't familiar with KFOG specifically at that time though.
Dandy Warhols...kind of LN, but I guess they could have picked a less interesting way to end.

Glad she cracks herself up...'cause she doesn't have that effect on anyone else.

There were a bunch of crappy bands with numbers in their names around that time, and we got three of them. I'm surprised the braintrust didn't find an Eve 6 song, too. Whatever genre these bands belong to (post-grunge pop?), I hate it and probably take about a half-second to change the station when a song like Kryptonite comes on.
-
I'll go out and say it: I like "Kryptonite". Five For Fighting, yeah he was dull.
So here's my report card, Good/Necessary
1. C/C - KFOG played it back in the day, but not too often now.
2 D/B - Keb is something of a Guilty Displeasure
3 A/B - I want to say KFOG started playing this in like May 2001.
4 C/A - definitely more of a 2001 song (and it didn't chart until 2002). Certainly their first 10@10 appearance, no?
5 B+/D- - not a Coldplay hater by any means, but RR should've selected something different.
6 B/F - the first time I saw the word "recurrentitis" dealt with this song and its followups.
7 A/B+
8 D/D - I've mentioned it before, but BNL has not aged well.
9 F/D- - only slightly more tolerable than Edwin McCain
10 A/C
