I'm predicting '90s or '00s.
and it's '92, starting oh-so-predictably with Nirvana. Nevermind, indeed. I'll pass.

Then I guess you didn't hear that Renee likes big butts. :o

Ooh...a '92 Tori song that isn't Cornflake Girl or God. Me likey.
-
Is there a FB thread? I thought I saw one for 1973 yesterday (not posted early enough for requests), but I can't find it now (at least via mobile). I don't see one for today.

Hee. Well, glad she played that but I'm getting the impression they're going thru old setlists and cutting-and-pasting, with emphasis on songs that won BOS in the past.

No, there wasn't. I don't think "early enough for requests" is gonna happen very often, if at all.

"10 boring songs from one mediocre year!"
Do you think that could catch on?
-
WOS to PJ & BC, but Genesis, PG, Tori, & Mix-a-Lot saved this set for me.
-
1. Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit
2. Stereo MC's - Connected
(TV: Seinfeld - Master of My Domain)
3. Genesis - I Can't Dance
4. The Cure - Friday I'm In Love
5. Sir Mix-A-Lot - Baby Got Back
(News: Candidates Bush, Perot, Clinton)
6. The Black Crowes - Remedy
7. Tori Amos - Crucify
8. Peter Gabriel - Digging In The Dirt
(Movie: A League of Their Own - There's no crying in baseball.)
9. Annie Lennox - Why
10. Pearl Jam - Even Flow
-
Quality/Necessary:
1. B/F
2. B/D
3. B/D-
4. B/F
5. C/A (it's been two years)
6. B/F
7. A/A
8. A/A (it's been awhile)
9. C/D-
10. A-/B+
so, IMHO, nothing truly terrible, with six LNs, but the other four lift this set to probably her second best effort to date.

Sorry, but Baby Got Back is NOT a great song, or even a good song. It's juvenile crap, even if it is kind of catchy.

Hence the 'C' for quality. 'A' for necessary as it's only appeared here once before, in the summer of '10.

I agree, actually. And every 2 years on 10@10 is plenty. But to the younger demo DC craves, it's one of those "OMG!" songs (hence the reason it gets a lot of play at weddings). I would put Biz Markie's "Just a Friend" (which I requested many times from AL and never got) and "Bust a Move" (which she did play) in the same category.

I'd put "Bust A Move" as a "B" for quality. As far as Biz Markie goes, sorry, that's one of the worst songs I've ever heard to reach the Top 40. And that includes Edwin McCain and anything that Dianne Warren wrote.

Agreed on "Bust A Move", more or less (not my thing, in the long run, but I remember not hating it), and I don't know the biz markie thing at all. Probably just fine that I don't.

You've probably heard it without realizing. It was used on a Heineken commercial last year, which was why I thought it would be ripe for AL to give it a spin.
