Title: 30 Aug 2012: it's... 1987
Post by: RGMike on August 30, 2012, 07:34:17 AM
or so it would seem -- AL's "midday show" promo mentioned "a year when greed was good". There was nothing on FB as of 10pm last nite.

ETA: turns out she posted around 10:30-ish.

I don't recognize this Bruce song. That's pretty unusual.

The first half of this set has been overly focused on slickly produced "roots" rock, as late 80's sets tend to be, but this X song (Dave Alvin penned) is most welcome.

haaaaaaaaaay baby, its "The 4th of July"!  BOS2 X.  Used to great effect in a memorable Sopranos episode.

One of my faves from that LP -- Emmylou Harris does a wonderful cover of it.

VHM DM behind the wheel.
Song's not bad, but that spinning hubcap hurts my ears, literally.

This "get up get up get up" is quite clamorous and annoying.

VHM Mr Lydon & Co, but this set needs some serious "HAAAAY!" -- Lisa Lisa, Company B, Expose, Whitney H...

BOS Swing Out Sister. January 2012 pickup from Amoeba was their 1992 effort, "Get In Touch Yourself". For $1, it was one of the better bargains I purchased.

Why haven't I ever heard this before? Snazzy.

It was a big hit, and AL's played it at least once before.

BOS4 the PSBs feat Dusty, though this one's nearing frequent-flier altitude.

I guess I've just missed a lot of these 10at10s, cause I've never heard this PSB song either.

I think this set is a re-run... ends with "we care a lot", FNM.

I love Mike Patton but wish she'd play some other songs from this album.

This is pre-Patton, no? Bottum left after this, iirc.  I always preferred this to "Epic" and their other (wait for it) Bottum-less hits.

I believe this is new (has that Springsteen ever appeared before). After a slow start, it ended with a bang. Personal favorite Faith No More is "Midlife Crisis" (although their version of "Easy" would be amusing).

And I can't help noticing this is the most-commented on 10@10 in over a month. Hopefully the interest is in this site is returning.

Chuck Mosley was the lead singer prior to Mike Patton. He was generally known more for his enthusiasm than his vocal chops, which is evident on We Care a Lot. Roddy Bottum is the longtime keyboardist and one of the main songwriters. He also is one of the few openly gay men in hard rock. I guess Courtney Love must be attracted to gay men because she dated Mr. Bottum briefly when SHE was Faith No More's lead singer briefly, before Chuck Mosley (Kurt experimented with his sexuality, as well).
