I was so tempted to request Bryan Adams, but held off.

ha! The Commitments' version of "Mustang Sally" -- a bustout, I'm thinking. And an appropriate one. BOSFRA.

REM's "Radio Song" is borderline-LN. Shame on Stipe for teaming with a homophobic rapper.

You could tell rap had its influence at the time: See Rush's "Roll The Bones".

wow: Electronic, "Get The Message" -- a rarity if not a bustout (I know we've heard "Getting Away with It" a time or 2).  BOS2FRA.

Sweet! There's also "Disappointed", which I wouldn't be if it showed up in 91/92.

I'm assuming "See The Lights". Just listened to that album extensively (a January Amoeba purchase)... "Woman" would be a quality choice.

holy crap: Alison Moyet, "It Won't Be Long" -- can't recall if AL's played this before (I wish we'd get "Invisible" in '85) but Alf is always welcome. BOS3.

I love "See the Lights" but its LN-ness could be greatly scaled back by playing a different song from that album even once for every ten or so "See the Lights" appearances.

My thoughts as well. Don't think it's Tori Amos. ;)

LOL! Tori's version would've been 3 times slower.

not recognizing this "calling my shadow" "Caught in my shadow" song.

ETA: ah, the Wonder Stuff.

‎07/24/12 - Tuesday! 1991!

1. The Commitments - Mustang Sally
2. Buddy Guy - Damn Right I've Got The Blues
(Movie: The Commitments "Have you got soul? If you've got soul the hardest working band is looking for you.")
... 3. Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit
(Movie: City Slickers - Mitch Robbins (Billy Crystal) "I work for WBLM radio.")
4. REM - Radio Song
(Movie: City Slickers - Mitch Robbins (Billy Crystal) "No. I sell them time on our station.")
5. Electronic - Get The Message
6. Simple Minds - See The Lights
7. Alison Moyet - It Won't Be Long
(News: Gene Roddenberry dies at 70, but Star Trek lives long and prospers.)
8. Kate Bush - Rocket Man
9. Sting - All This Time
(SNL - Jesse Jackson - "Green Eggs and Ham.")
10. The Wonder Stuff - Caught In My Shadow

one of the more interesting 1991 sets I can recall, even if my ususal hopes for Top 40 pop were dashed.
