The requester of "Shine" is also the same who requested "All I Wanna Do" and "Only Wanna Be With You" for the 95 set last week.

Kinda bummed we're not getting a first-day-of-Summer set instead. But I'll be in a 10:00 meeting in any case. So (try to) enjoy '94.

Who the hell is covering "Top of the World"? She's bad.

ETA: I suspected it might be Shonen Knife, and apparently it is.

Shonen Knife's "Top of the World"?  Yeah, all right, I'm in.  (Used that song for my wife's segment of our wedding reception slideshow.)

I know Sonic Youth is all that, but I don't like "Bull in the Heather".

And no need for Green Day's "Basket Case". So many songs from that album she could have chosen... (Mike's busy, so I get to wear the crankypants.)

Bah, so great.  Oof, I am so meh about Sonic Youth though.  Does nothing for me.

Figures she'd play it if I wasn't listening.  BOS in absentia One of the great reinventing-the-original cover versions of the last 25 years.

6/20/12 - Wednesday! KFOG Variety in...1994!

Movie Intro: Pulp Fiction- Honey Bunny (Amanda Plummer) & Pumpkin (Tim Roth)
  1. Dick Dale - Misirlou (B.O.S-Tie!)
  2. Tom Petty - You Wreck Me
(Movie: Reality Bites-Vickie (Janeane Garofalo)"Evian spelled backwards is naive")
  3. Shonen Knife -Top Of the World
  4. US3 - Cantaloop (Flip Fantasia)
(Movie: Reality Bites-Troy (Ethan Hawke) & Lelaina (Winona Ryder)
  5. Bonnie Raitt - Longing In Their Hearts
  6. Blues Traveler - Hook
(News: Newt Gingrich wins GOP Congress)
  7. Pavement - Cut Your Hair
 (News: Kurt Cobain found dead)
  8. Nirvana - About a Girl
  9. Sonic Youth - Bull In the Heather (B.O.S-Tie!)
(TV: My So Called Life-Danielle (Lisa Wilhoit) "Am I allowed to have a feeling in this house? Or is that just Angela?" Angela (Clare Danes)-on mother pretending to be happy)
 10. Green Day - Basket Case

Aside from my most-welcome Shonen Knife request... can't say I'm impressed by the above. Was the Sonic Youth a bustout? (I know she's played them often enuf but that title's not ringing a bell.) VHM Bonnie Raitt. I'm still amused by how beloved-by-Fogheads "Cantaloop" has become, considering KFOG was afraid to play it when it was new.

I thought this was one of the better 1994 sets, despite no Real McCoy.  Shonen Knife/Bonnie Raitt/Sonic Youth all bustouts.  Green Day, by definition, is usually not too N but "Basket Case" was very 1994, not to mention that KFOG never plays it & it was pretty cool hearing that in the same set as Bonnie Raitt.  Petty, Nirvana & possibly Blues Traveler were the only LN's.

The past few weeks on 10@10 there's definitely been a change for the better.

Listened to the set last night, and it sounded quite good. I say that because even Tom Petty didn't irritate me (and to be fair, I don't know how often "You Wreck Me" has appeared... and how often has Pavement appeared? Was this appearance #2?
