But Fogheads and their love of overplayed Oldies 103.7 type shit is really on my last nerve.

then one is quite lucky. But seriously, anything that is generally overplayed (no matter where) is just an unnecessary request IMHO. Obviously we're gonna hear something from Born to Run today because Bruce is in town. But there were suggestions in that thread for songs I never need to hear again. Granted I'm a cranky old music geek, but still.
Also, I guess I can't fathom people who listen to only KFOG, morning 'til nite. My head would explode.

Meh of set, Elton.
-
I'm betting that song #10, which AL promises to be a "classic", will be "Born To Run."
Or "Kashmir."
-
Having just heard "Philly Freedom" on Casey's '75 chart the other day, I can't really get excited, tho' it is a good TOTHK.
But I know a Foghead who's creaming his jeans...

actually she said "masterpiece" which makes me think "Jungleland"
-
BOS "Jive Talkin'", our Robin Gibb salute.
-
Two semi-LNs (if you listen to Oldies 103.7 or KISS FM) but two BOS votes from me.
modegreen: the Bee Gees sing "There you go with your fancy lice." hehe
-
AL's gonna need a bigger boat.
-
WooHoo! I gets me a request! BOS, Led Zep.
ETA: Ha. "Get out of the water" seques into "Down By the Seaside". Nice.
-
WooHoo! I gets me a request! BOS, Led Zep.
wow how far behind is the stream? I'm hearing Queen -- a "seaside" twin-spin of some kind happening?
BOS2 and 3 in any case.

I will hold off on future spoilers...
BTW, promos for tonight's American Idol say it's all Queen, all the time....

I'd've sworn we heard "Mr Jaws" in our last '75 set, but maybe I'm just senile. VHM for cheeziness alone.
uber-LN: War.

i had this single -- it was cheaper than buying all thew songs he used. I would say "Hey, you want to hear that song The Hustle?"
"Hell yeah!"
Then I would play Mr. Jaws and say "ok, just wait a sec, it's coming up."
Usually the person would leave in a huff and I would call after them "Why Can't We Be Friends?"
-
uber-LN: War.
I knew you were going to say that! ;)

Gotta chime in...
IMHO, the 2 masterpieces on that album are "Thunder Road" and (yes) "Born To Run".

props to AL for playing the looooooong version. (love that piano bit)

BOS4 The Stepford Wives.
uber-BOS5 "Ophelia" -- why this was not a big hit single is a mystery.
-
proxy of Gaz: Spinners and their oddly parenthetically-titled song.
Great tune.
props to AL for playing the looooooong version. (love that piano bit)
And more props to AL for playing Levon and the Band's "Ophelia".
And I always dig "The Stepford Wives". Creeeepy.
-
I guess you have to die to get some Americana played. VHM to The Band and Ophelia

Pretty much a given once it was requested and +1'd on fb a few times. Still, another BOS.

This makes me think of Dire Straits "Making Movies" album. Roy Bittan is the link.

I'm inside her HEAD, man!

Yah, definitely some "Romeo and Juliet" to it.

Very true... :-)
It's surely an epic, it's just that the songs I mentioned are 2 of my all time favorites...

Yeah, "Jungleland" is "masterpiecy", but it tries too hard, imo. :P

a couple people here are going to see Bruce in SJ, right? SundayGal and Wayback for sure.
just curious: has everyone here seen Bruce Springsteen in concert before?
I saw him only once, in ATT Park. I think it was this show

yes -- I was at that show too. A Saturday nite. Had floor seats. pretty wonderful.
I also saw him back in '76 or '77 at the Palladium in NYC (a movie theater-turned-concert venue, 3000 seats) and again in '79 at the "No Nukes" concert @ Madison Sq Garden, where he did some new songs that ended up on The River the following year.

I've seen him 3 times. Great shows all. Once outside, twice inside in Oakland. My sister was pestering me to go to this show too, but I basically don't go to San Jose for shows -- it's just too far. And it's Tuesday, goddammit. I'm sure it will rock, though.

nice. I know The Palladium (14th street) from the 80s when it was dance club. I saw Andy Warhol there once.

I saw that show, too, also in a floor seat. Pretty fine for a stadium show. That may have been the last time I've seen him, but there have been many other shows before that: both Oakland shows on the River tour in 1980, then all 4 of the BITUSA tour shows (two inside in 84, two at the ballpark in '85), the first Bridge show in '86, one of the Tunnel of Love shows at Shoreline in '88 (I think), the Amnesty show at Oakland Stadium in '89, and a few more since then that are not coming to me at the moment. Although I did see one of the shows in '99 in the run that SG mentioned. I think I'm due--if he makes it to Portland on a later leg of this tour, maybe...
