I've been on a roll in these sorts of years, and she "liked" my post (Shonen Knife, Freedy Johnston, Ini Kamoze) so fingers crossed.

OMG...Nine Inch Nails on 10@10?!?!?

I could usually do without Tom Petty, but AL was just being too clever here.  Headline News would be awesome.

BOS Seal,  haven't heard this in a while.

He played the 2003 (?) Alice Fest, the one where Duran Duran headlined.  Great show!  Maroon 5 also playedl, but I didn't care.  They didn't have the moves like Jagger back then-- they were more beard-y, too.

Ooh, love this Seal song.  BOS.  Although "Don't Cry" would have probably been a bit more N.
I saw him live @ Bumbershoot in Seattle.  Good show, but he was kind of a dork.  He also tried to make "Love's Divine" into a sing-a-long.

Still WOS'ing them, though.

I think she was (at least on the first album) a completely fabricated artist. Her singing voice seems to me a total affectation.  Someone's idea of what would sell to a particular demo.  And "Ironic" is one of the worst songs ever  -- no one thought to point out to her that she didn't actually know what the word meant?

Without checking, I believe most of the songs off of "Jagged Little Pill" were written by Glen Ballard. My theory r/ "Ironic" is that it was supposed to be called "Unfortunate", but it didn't quite sound as harmonic hence the word change. And yes, the lack of irony in that song has been mentioned a few times.

Was there a Top 40 hit prior to "You Oughta Know" that sounded nearly as angry? And I realize that it didn't chart Billboard, rather Radio-n-Records.

I think I get the hate, I just don't feel it.  I'd never go out of my way to listen to her (except for maybe "You Oughta Know" which acheives it's artistic goal as well as any song ever performed), but when she comes on the radio, I usually enjoy the experience.  And I find the non-irony of "Ironic" amusing.

03/12/12 - Monday! Connected in... 1994!!

 1. Elastica - Connection
 2. Tom Petty - You Wreck Me
(News: Figure skater, Nancy Kerrigan injured-unable to skate in final)
 3. Nine Inch Nails - Hurt (4-Way Tie-B.O.S!)
(Movie: Pulp Fiction-Mia (Uma Thurman) tells Vincent (John Travolta) her Fox Force Five joke)
 4. Urge Overkill - Girl, You'll Be a Woman Soon (4-Way Tie-B.O.S!)
 5. Nirvana - About a Girl (4-Way Tie-B.O.S!)
(News: Kurt Cobain R.I.P.)
 6. Seal - Prayer for the Dying
 7. Grant Lee Buffalo - Mockingbirds
(TV: The Simpsons - Homer talks to God?)
 8. Tori Amos - God
(TV: The Simpsons - Wait, it was only a waffle..."sacrelicious")
 9. Hootie & the Blowfish - Only Wanna Be With You
10. Liz Phair - Supernova (4-Way Tie-B.O.S!)

Edit 1: Axing Tori Amos, moving Liz Phair up to #8 and sticking Real McCoy or Ini Kamoze in the #10 spot would had almost made this set above average.

Edit 2: Along the lines of WoLN, I'm going to designate Tori Amos today's LoLN (Least of Least Necessary.)

I love Elastica, but I never need to hear "Connection" on 10@10 again.   It's a shame we don't get deeper album cuts anymore.

I love them. Maybe one of their more signature rocking songs can make it on some time.

Mockingbirds is a terrific song, and Grant Lee Buffalo has a bunch more good ones.

Listening to the replay. This set was fun!

BOS: GLB Mockingbirds and NiN Hurt
VHM: Urge Overkill and Seal
LN: Tom Petty and Tori Amos -- I think both of these were played before.
Stinker: Hootie, but I appreciate the joke in doing so

I really think Annalisa puts exactly 2 awesome tracks in every set and 2 horribly overplayed ones. To ease the pain, she's been doing some awesome segues (dig the Homer Simpson/"God" connection).
