No worries, dude--it happens about once a week. You can go back and delete it if you want, or I can do it.

Hey Bro!
Since no one has replied to your other post you can just delete it. Urth often beats me out in the same fashion.

one of Dave's fave obscurities, this Flash & the Pan thingy. Hard to believe these guys were also the Easybeats -- and were responsible for "Love is in the Air".
-
WOS Martha Motel. Didn't we hear this in the last '82 set? Another inexplicable Dave fave.
-
Motels? BOS just for obsucurity

Only A Mattter of Time...
...until we get Jon & Vangelis in an '82 set. Not that I'm complaining.
"Dued, it's Prog Rock!"

Yep--Harry Vanda & George Young. They're quite revered in the UK, not so well known here. I remember reading a lengthy MOJO feature on them several years ago.
And a related trivia question: one of them has two younger brothers who made it VERY big in the late 70s in a hard rock band that's still going (and almost as big) today. Name the brothers and/or the band. (They're almost synonymous so one will get you the other.)

bad spelling
but a great personal quote/avatar!

Angus & Malcom = AC/DC
(easiest trivia you ever asked :) )
-
Guilty Displeasure - Soft Cell "Tainted Love". I still like "Mug's Game" & "Sex Dwarf" tho'.

Dingdingdingding!!!
Sometimes ya gotta float one right over the plate--never know if you'll sneak it past 'em or not. Did you know it already, or did ya put it together (two bros in a late 70s hard rock band--how many can there be?)

I knew it long ago, but I always thought Vanda & Young were just the producers/writers for Flash & The Pan. Not the performers.

Anyone know what is the instrument that makes "the machine that bgoes bing" sound in that one?

BOS Marvin! I'm hot just like an oven, and I needs some lovin'!

A new Narada has been discovered!

didn't recognize the song, kinda liked it
So, it was none of the above, but rather solo Jon Anderson.
Didja recognize the famous guest bass player?

Nope. Someone a bit more famous from earlier.

I thought it didn't sound like Chris Squire, but I could be wrong.
-
Bonus track: "Town Called Malice" -- woulda been My BOS for sure. All those housewives clutching milkbottles to their hearts...

Me too. At least I remembered to turn the radio back on for the bonus track today.

I confess, I peeked at Allmusic after my misfire above.
Btw, the album this song was on, Animation, was released in 83, so we may have another mis-classified song. I'm shocked!

Glad to know my old ears still have bass player radar working. There was something about the rhythm and pulse of the song that seemed un-Yes-like. I wonder if any of you have this song. Actually, I don't even remember the name of the song right now. I guess I'll go see if it's been posted yet.

I looked up some discographies, and saw Bruce was a guest on the album, but not the only bass player. Do you either have it or have found some more detailed liner notes?

marathoning this morning, and hearing Jon Anderson's "All in a Matter of Time" thru big speakers (rather than my tinny work headphones), it occurred to me it'd be a PERFECT song for Polyphonic Spree to cover. As would a lot of his catalogue, actually.

An inspired thought, Mike--I could def. see them doing that. They've been known to pull out some disparate songs as covers--like Nirvana's Lithium and Wig in a Box, from Hedwig.
