The good news: a rare week with a '60s AND a '70s set.
The bad news: we're ignoring Friday the 13th altogether.
Please let this not be another 103.7-fest...

Please let this not be another 103.7-fest...
Speaking of, SRW and DW are working my LAST nerve tonight. "Killler Queen"? "Bennie & the Jets"?? Jeezus. (bet we hear BOTH of those)
-
Is this the first week since the changeover that we've had three pre-1985 sets?
-
Webster just made AL giggle. Of course, that's not hard to do.
-
AL went manic with the deep cut videos last night. I don't think that's a good sign for the imminent set.
-
Guest DJ, Quentin Tarantino
-
Leadoff BOS (and my request too!).

hee. You can always tell when she's had an extra coffee or 2 after dinner.
-
Yay. Getting down in 74.
-
Leadoff BOS (and my request too!).
you and SRW sharing requests again?
-

Ha! I liked that little exchange. You could tell her laugh wasn't forced. And what Webster was saying -- how he used to put his Radio Shack cassette (pronounced "CASS-ette") recorder up to the TV to record shows -- rang true for me, too. In his case he recalls recording California Jam (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_Jam). In my case, although a few years later, I would be a devotee of recording SNL episodes.
-
Bummer: we get "Reggae on Boogie Woman" instead of my deep-cut Stevie W request.
-
Leadoff BOS (and my request too!).
you and SRW sharing requests again?
I didn't request "Bennie & The Jets".
-
If you can't beat 'em join 'em department: I'm liking and exclamation pointing like crazy over on FB; I even posted on the morning roll call!

Hahaha! I did that too! I started in 76 or so. I remember seeing the Blues Brothers come on, and my mom said "Belushi is getting fatter and fatter." My dad didn't hear her the first time so she said it again! Wish I knew where that tape was...

I remarked on a friend's FB page that that would be akin to LeAnn Rimes opening for Metallica. Completely inappropriate. Promoters milking it.
-
BOS for "Young Frankenstein". One of my favorite movies of all time.
"Sed-a-give????"
-
RASPberries!
-
Leadoff BOS (and my request too!).
you and SRW sharing requests again?
I didn't request "Bennie & The Jets".
she asked for "Jungle Boogie", tho'
'74-for-Dummies continues with "Help Me", so help me.
-
VHM the mighty 'berries but we've heard this fairly recently, iirc.

Could be interesting as long as they stick with the funk and avoid marshmallow like "Joanna" and "Cherish"
-
RASPberries!
wow, the radio stream is quite a bit behind the airwaves. I should know not to look here when I'm listening to the stream, otherwise it's a bit of a spoiler.
Lots of heavy rotation stuff so far. But BOS to Joni the Canadian.

I dunno... "Joanna" and "Jump" were both big when I was 13, so it's possible they're targeting me.

I'm just wondering what sort of demographic (aside from oddballs like us) would actually enjoy seeing both of those bands on the same stage on the same night.
-

Well, that answers my question. Thanks. :) I was 7, and definitely fall in that target group. But can there really be enough people to finance a concert?

"AL, you are KILLING US!!!"
How's that?
-
Yeah, I want a hit record too, but what I *really* wanted were Hits From Hell!
I'll predict that we get one anyway - "Seasons in the Sun," mayhaps?
Hope you're all well! I've been disenchanted with and disengaged from AL's sets in recent weeks, but I'm here today.

I'm guessing that most VH fans would at least tolerate Kool, as long as, as was previously mentioned, "Cherish" is avoided.

I'd guess there are more women than men who appreciate both acts. Rock-loving guys tend to hate everything else (see: Fred P).
BOS "Diamond Dogs".
-
I'll give Diamond Dogs a BOS, even though it's not a great Bowie song. Seems bust-out-y to me.

Anyone remember when K&tG did a free lunchtime show in Justin Herman Plaza about 10 or 15 yrs ago?
-
I've been disenchanted with and disengaged from AL's sets in recent weeks, but I'm here today.
Can't blame ya, man. A lot of stinkers lately. Today's all right, though, frequent fliers, notwithstanding.
-

we've missed ya, bub. But you haven't missed much of anything, set-wise. HFHs is dead dead dead as far as being a 10@10 theme-trope., sadly.

I think it would be a good show. Why not? I can find stuff to like from both bands. It's unusual, but it's like skipping around the radio dial. I listen to both the Bone AND 98.1 KISS. Don't we all?
confession: the flutter in the Diamond Dogs production has always annoyed me

No need to search for it. Those lyrics sent it rushing in like a tidal wave of bad melodies. Cherish the life we live, indeed.

Now you guys are killing ME!

"San Jose's own..." Redbone, "Come & Get yo' 'Trina"

Might be a 'trina, but, man, does it groove!

so .. when The Bitch came back and he said he was stone cold sober (as a matter of fact). How long did that last?
Redbone! always loved this one!

I avoid KFOG at all times now except AL's show. KISS 98.1 usually good and I must be entering old fogeydom tuning in a lot to 70's on 7 on Sirius XM. A decent dose of alt to on 105 and alt on XM too.
-
ROTFL: HTY used Jose's shtick and then Jose showed up.
-
BOS, um, Bowie, I guess. Maybe the Dan. I don't know. But if I were runnin' the show, this is not at all what 1974 would sound like.

gosh, me, too. I got into it during the 77-78 season, I think. I could recite some of the sketches word for word. I wonder where those Lo-Noise cassettes went...
-
uber-BOS4 Madeline Kahn.
and uber-uber-BOS5 this obscurity from Richard & Linda Thompson.
-
Okay, NOW we're talking! Uber-BOS to the song after the 6 million dollar man clip. I know what it is, but am not spoiling for the streamers.
Hint: One of the great guitar intros of all time.

no, but why do you ask? In fact, I think he's pretty cool, (mostly based on an interview I heard him do on Howard Stern a few years back.) Please don't tell me he covered Cherish...!

Live Lou is another too-frequent-flier (esp in the Morey era), good as it is. VHM.
it's certainly making this set a long one if not a great one.

excellent
"Lou Reed allegedly once called this 'the best and most authentic version I have ever heard,' but why the heck would you trust him? It is only authentic if you think the Velvet Underground were a middle-of-the-road chamber-folk lounge-snooze group instead of a noisy droning rock band (which is what lots of musicians they inspired apparently believe, but that doesn't make them right), and also if you enjoy hearing clinically introverted Canadians who forgot to take their depression medication mumble so you can't make out the words."
