It's a year o' mystery, sez AL. Hopefully a year sans Foo Fighters. :P
-
I've got a 10:00 meeting so the "mystery" won't be solved for me until later. Based on history, I'm gonna guess 1985.

BOS Art of Noise! Is this 83 or 84?
It's 84...I remember "You Might Think" winning video of the year at the first MTV awards.

I am pretty sure The Pretenders tune (My City Was Gone) puts it squarely in '84.

dunno, but I have a slighyly new perspective on the Pretenders' My City Was Gone b/c I had a six hour layover in Cleveland last month and I took the train into town to have a look-see.
"There was no train station" sings Chrissie. Today the Tower City Center, the former train station, has been remodeled into a multi-tiered indoor shopping mall, sort of like how the old Emporium in SF was redone into the Westfield Mall. There are trains in the lowest levels, and shops above.
I'm guessing 83? haven't looked at FB yet.

Did you have time to go to the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame?

BOS for Repo Man! "Let's get sushi and not pay!" That's 1984, yes?

I thought about it, but I figured it would have been a little bit of a rushed trip. Then again, I imagine spending more than four straight hours in there would make me nuts. I also read on yelp that you cannot photograph anything.

BOS2 Da Smiffs - "What Difference Does it Make?" Oh, why can't this band reform already?
-
BOS3 "No Surrender". One of my faves from da Boss.

it's good, but if I was going to do a Bruce imitation, it might sound like this.

Never give up. Never surrender.
-
"Jump" removes all subtlety about the year.

I dig "Hyperactive". BOS for Thomas Dolby. Especially when he plays the trombone with his nose. Or maybe it's a different guy in the video...

I like it, too, and it's a mondegreen goldmine.
"There isn't any appetite?" That's what I hear, and maybe that's real lyric?
-
Some kinda obvious songs but also some rarer ones.
BCOS (best clips of set): Repo Man
Every time she plays VH Jump, I gotta point out these.

well, at least this one went to 11 ;)
is the Replace-mats tune a bustout? Nothing else was, certainly -- a couple onetime Moreytrinas (Nik Kershaw) that haven't been heard much recently.

Set was not bad; jokes on FB were better.
"Your dead Body is a Wonderland," for example.

I'm rather digging the replay. Thinking I need to reprogram myself not to instinctively recoil when an 80s year comes up.
Oh, and props to AL for going to 11 for the first time in months. 11/11/11 notwithstanding.
