Title: 26 Dec 2011: it's... a "classic" from 1989
Post by: RGMike on December 25, 2011, 10:20:51 PM
No clues from AL (tho' she was postiing Xmas clips on FB all day Sunday like they were goin' outta style). It *is* a holiday, technically, so maybe we'll get a "classic"?

ETA: Renee (subbing for Webster) sez AL is "on her way" so I guess it's a new one. '80s Chartbusters?

3/11/10 Thursday!! A well rounded set from...1989!!

  1) Roy Orbison- You Got It
  2) Del Amitri- Kiss This Thing Goodbye
(News: DC Call Boy Ring)
  3) XTC- King For A Day
(George Bush: I'm The president & I won't eat broccoli!)
  4) Replacements- I'll Be You
  5) Bob Mould- See A Little Light
(News: Exxon Valdez)
  6) Chris Rea- The Road To Hell (Part 2) (B.O.S! tie)
  7) Tracy Chapman- Crossroads
(TV: Seinfeld)
8 ) Lou Reed- Dirty Blvd. (B.O.S! tie)
(Movie: Do The Right Thing)
  9) De La Soul- Me Myself and I

Not the worst 1989 set ever. But I'll "kiss this thing goodbye" shortly and head out to the flicks.

Posted your news for the masses, but at least admitted I was a plagiarist.

I used more inside info to make fun of you, L-girl, and CB on the FB board. Don't worry, everyone thought my "Shopping" comment was just generic sexism  :D

Not a very good set when Chris Rea sounds good enough for a BOS!

Perhaps not as slavish an imitation as Santana's "Winning" or Rod Stewart's "Young Turks," but yeah, it drips of Knopflerisms.  Anyone have the liner notes to the Stewart cut to find out who played the guitar on that track?
