I was somewhat aghast that this was the version my guitarist in the church band was most familiar with! I don't hate it, but the other versions are so much better.

You missed Bon Jovi "Runaway"
Wow. This would make for one of the best My Three Songs challenges ever for an unsuspecting audience. (I've long wanted to pitch a publisher on the idea of compiling a ton of these as a book for the light-reading set, but have never done the research on who "owns" the concept and how one clears the use of all the lyrics.)

OMG, I'm so glad you know (and dig) "There Will Be Love." The bridge of that has the same unfathomable effects on me that "Miracles" does. (And as an aside: The pose of the band on the back cover always gives me a shock-chill feeling when I look at it. I'm convinced I have been in that room before. And not to get too weird, but perhaps in a previous life, as I've heard has happened with others.) Anyway, a piece of trivia about Red Octopus's stay at #1: Those four weeks came in four separate ascents to the top. Although it came out in June, the album's four weeks at #1 were twice in September and twice in November. You'll never see something like that happen again!

That group was so hot live during that period. The only drawback for me, as a Deadhead, was that the shows were pretty canned. When you went to see the Dead, every night was a different show. When you saw the Starship, The Rolling Stones, or Pink Floyd back then, the shows were pretty much identical from night-to-night, even the touches that seemed spontaneous at the time. On a single night, then, the Jefferson Starship in that time was as awesome as anything on the planet.
