The singer/songwriter, who had hits beginning with The In Crowd to 1973's Drift Away, died today in Nashville.

One of my fave songs of the '73 era.  His '65 hit "The In-Crowd" is good, and the Ramsey Lewis jazz instrumental version is cool, but there's also Bryan Ferry's '74 version.  Add'l obit info: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/dobie-gray-drift-away-death-270338
