Please let us avoid the year's Katrina, "Semi-Charmed Life". We don't really need to hear "How Bizarre" or "Your Woman" anytime soon either. I've requested "Do You Know What I Mean?"

or anything currently in KFOG rotation.
ETA: they played "Semi-Charmed Life" in the 6:00 hour so hopefully we're safe...
But the Mighty Mighty 'Trina-tones is another HUGE katrina in this year. Sheesh.

One day they played "Black Hole Sun" in the 7:00 hour and again on 10@10...
I got nothing against MMB. We've just heard them way too many times in 10@10, that's all.

ah the *other* big horn-laden ska-revival hit of '97: VHM Reel Big Fish.
-
It's a ska twin-spin. I like Reel Big Fish.
-
WOS RBF.
(This is the second appearance of this twin-spin.)
-
Ugh. Enough is enough. WOS SNZ.

and it's a clever enuf t-s; I did it myself on my best-of-'97 mixtape. RBF was actually my request the first time she played it.
BOS Squirrel Nutters.
-
Ugh. Enough is enough. WOS SNZ.
sorry, but she's 3-for-3 with my '97 best-ofs so far.
-
Annalisa KFOG is way too into fake ska and the late 90's swing revival for my tastes.
-
WOS this bluesy thang -- also a frequent '97 flier, iirc.

I won't disagree that she is, but in '97 those first 3 songs sounded mighty (mighty) fresh(tones).
-
This set is really going nowhere fast...
-
HM Naked Eye, though by now I think that only a bustout could save this set...
-
wow, everything seems NTM here.
the first three sort of blended into one song, I guess I avoided this stuff back then.
Boom Boom was a refreshing change, HM from me.
This next one sounds like Garbage...?
-
Luscious Jackson....finally something to BOS around here! This set needs some Britpop......
-

agreed: everything we've heard had made multiple appearances in '97 sets.

Dude! Did you listen to the radio in the late 90s? (I didn't) :P
-
Sorry, I never "got" Morphine, tho' I'm sure their cult will be out in BOS force.

Morphine lover reporting for duty, sir! This song is NTM, so definitely BOS.
-
I'll BOS it!
...and back to Marcy Playground. ::) Today's report card is going to show a lot of "F"'s is in the "necessary" section.
-

Meh. Ughh....not Sex and Candy! WOSWOSWOS!

we're DROWNING here ... and AL's describing the water!
BOS2FRA Elliott Smith.
-
I'll give another BOS for Elliott Smith, an amazing artist. I thank RadioParadise for introducing him to me. Then of course he ended up dead under weird circumstances. Sad.
-
VHM'ing this. Everything by ES sounds the same...but, otoh, we haven't really heard much of anything by him on here.
-
Yoicks. This set..........
-
This Lisa Loeb is a relative rarity but it's still kinda... meh.

I think I was back-filling my rawk CD collection back then, stuff from the 70s etc. I'm generally about 15 years behind what the kids are listening to.
But I was aware of Morphine, so I'll BOS it. Super Sex is my fave song of theirs.
I didn't know about Elliot Smith until he passed away, from a self-inflicted stab wound?? that sounds, uh, suspicious, to say the least. My SO lurves him, though, so he's on my radar. Def a unique sound.
But this next song.... hmmm. I think I heard this at a Menses Fair once. :)

Oy. We won't get Foo'ed again!
-
WOS-whatever, the Foos.
-
Grudglingly VHM'ing My Hero. Listening objectively, this is not a bad song & heavier rock has been oddly absent from this set. And, at least she went on to one of their other tracks rather than playing Everlong for like the sixth time.
-
I deleted a similar post last night because I thought I was being too bitchy, but here goes again:
"Katrina" should be rechristened "Foo."
-
Thank gawd that's over. Sorry, AL -- not everybody loves Mr Grohl.
-
She posted like, 5 Blur videos last night on FB and didn't play any of them. Blur-tease!

I wondered why that disappeared -- no such thing as "too bitchy" around here, bub.

I agree with that. Not a bad song. Everlong, for example, would garner an AAACCK! reflex, but this one isn't so bad. -- and I think I like Learn To Fly, too, but I can't think with the Black Keys yelling in my ear.

They at least woke me up! :o

The night before video is an almost certain kiss of death for any off the beaten path request.

As promised, the Radical Ratings ;D
Good
A
Luscious Jackson
B
Morphine
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones
Foo Fighters
C
Elliot Smith
Lisa Loeb
Big Head Todd/Monsters/John Lee Hooker
Marcy Playground
F
Reel Big Fish
Squirrel Nut Zippers
Necessary
A
Morphine
B
Luscious Jackson
Foo Fighters (Due to this particular track being both a) tolerable & b) not a frequent flyer, it gets a one-time pass)
Elliot Smith
D
Lisa Loeb (This might actually have been higher if most of the set hadn't also been so unnecessary)
F
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones
Reel Big Fish
Squirrel Nut Zippers
Big Head Todd and the Monsters featuring John Lee Hooker (Something this bland shouldn't already have this many appearances...or this many words in the names of the artists) (***and these were tracks one through four...making it all but impossible to recover***)
Marcy Playground (This is not a ten at ten song.)

Ugh, Lisa Loeb & Marcy Playground. Just shoot me in the face already.
Rad, you really have to get those Christgau Record Guides. Put them on your Christmas wishlist! You'd really enjoy them.

I do. He performs live really well.

Alrighty, two votes to rechristen an AL-specific overplayed 10@10 entry as a "Foo".
