back to normal, back to reality.
SRW wants to hear "Good Thing" by FYC -- seriously?

You beat me to it! Somebody else requested "My Heart Can't Tell You No", which would at least be a bustout, I think.

I'll have to head over to FB.
Dr. Feelgood
Funky Cold Medina
Hey Ladies (Beasties)
Lay Your Hands on Me
Me So Horny (rippin off the riffs from Firecracker)
18 and Life
eta: went to fb and posted, thinking I'd pretty much be the freak with these tunes but someone else asked for Dr. Feelgood and the Beasties. OK, no one else mentioned the others and I'm sure AL won't go near 'em.

Me love you long time!

Sigh. Sorry, guys; it appears I'm done listening to 10@10. I'll continue popping in on threads though.
-
apparently we missed SRV and part of Bonnie R -- in other words, nothing to be upset about.

was it the double shot of Blooze from SRV and Bonnie Raitt that did it? I could see that...
I'm glad you'll still be around in some capacity, Gaz.

proxy of shray, Indio's orig "Big Hard Sun".

Thx for clarifiying. I thought for a sec we were getting Eddie Vedder in some alternate stream or something. Eddie didn't really change this one too much, did he?
-
BOS When Harry Met Sally --> Van the Man. Nice segue.
-
Dang, I thought we were getting Do the Right Thing clips today. Please no "white man's overbite"!
-
early Nirvana?

early Nirvana?
Sounds like. But I'm not informed enough to tell you what it's from.

DM: our own personal 'Trina.

Bluesy David Bowie? NTM!

Bluesy David Bowie? NTM!

BOS, and Best Shredding of Set!

I like the contrast with the smoothness of Chris Isaak, but this song ("Wicked Game") is completely unnecessary.
-
completely unnecessary: "Wicked Game". Sheesh.

"completely unnecessary" JINX!
-
always a BOS for Wicked Game, I never get tired of it.
PS: AL butchered the opening note by letting Tin Machine play over it... drat!

I hope this is irony, TC. :)
BOS1 Tim Machine; BOS2 De La Soul. VHMs Indio and Nirvana. But the rest -- way too many '89 mainstays.
-
wow, George and Jerry before their voices changed. HM to Seinfeld.
Hey hey, it's Old School House Rock!
Noice and BOS3

No question. Any song that appears at least once daily in KFOG's regular rotation should never be considered for 10@10. And this is the epitome of that.
-
Thank gawd...De La Soul gets my BOS!
-
BOS3 and WOS at the same time: BJ starts a fire.

Nope, I mean it. That opening note defines the peak of Chris Isaak's heart-aching crooner style.
We Didn't Start The Fire: a song written by Time-Life headlines. meh...
-
HM Billy Joel. I saw him during this tour!
-
Guess it's pertinent to the segue, but also unneccesary and WOS: Billy J, who didn't start the fire and shouldn't have released this song. The falsetto in the chorus always makes me cringe.

AIDS! Crack! Bernie Goetz!
-
HM Billy Joel. I saw him during this tour!
As did I: Spring 1990 at the now-Oracle Arena. Sat in what Joel described as the "Eureka, er, shitty seats".
-
Not to beat a dead horse, but RGMike and my suggestions have been consistently ignored for 1989 more than any other year it seems.
Roachford is essentially FYC that we haven't heard after all. I guess we should be thankful for the nonappearance of "Good Thing".

Tinka, er I mean T-Cat, is correct. The wistfulness of the guitar tone in this song is a rare thing. I also reflect on how the original guitarist Jimmy Wilsey was bounced out of the band, after giving us such great work. He was a genuinely nice person, and a gifted guitarist. I wonder what he's up to.

indeed. The only '89 request I've ever gotten was "Bust a Move" back in the pre-DC era. And it's not like we're requesting obscurities.

Yep, that was the place! I remember winning the tickets from a record store window display contest sponsored by CBS records (I think). Same goes for Paul McCartney's "Flowers in the Dirt" tour in Berkeley.

I saw that one* (and given the size of the show I'd guess a few others of our group likely did, too. One of the few times I've had front row for a really big show.
*McCartney in Berkeley, not BJ.

"[RG]Mike, I finally got your Tanita in the studio, but ran out of time--you know I'll get your Twist in next time:)"
This seems to have come after your post, RGM. Coincidence? (yes, I am aware of the acronym)

actually I don't think she lurks here much if at all -- coincidence I'd say. She's commented before about having my request with her but not getting around to squeezing it in. Interestingly, the Tanita Tikaram tune was the most obscure of the songs I requested -- "Walk the Dinosaur" and "Buffalo Stance" are bona fide Top 10 hits.
