Title: 16 Nov 2011: a "classic" from 1987
Post by: Lightnin' Rod on November 16, 2011, 10:07:43 AM
I wasn't paying very good attention, so I don't know if it's a repeat or not.  But since nobody else stepped up...

Track 1:  TP, Jammin' Me.  BOS.

I'll admit - I was waiting for someone else to do it. :)

Difficult to groove to John Hiatt's version of "Thing Called Love" after hearing Bonnie's.

I feel the same way about the radio waves song.

It feels like everyone in this set is struggling to sound like themselves (with the exception of Aerosmith).

CrankyFred on FB was complaining about the "techno/pop/crap" of New Order; I replied

"In a set that featured Petty, Hiatt, Aerosmith and the 3 billionth airing of 'Don't Dream It's Over'... 'techno/pop/crap' was most welcome :-) "

1.  Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers- Jammin' Me
 2.  John Hiatt- Thing Called Love
(Movie: Moonstruck)
 3.  Def Leppard- Animal
 4.  Aerosmith- Ragdoll
(News: Supreme Court/Pope vist/ Tammy Faye PTL)
 5.  New Order- True Faith
 6.  Roger Waters- Radio Waves
(News: Iran Contra/Ollie North/ Just Say No)
 7.  Julian Cope- World, Shut Your Mouth
 8.  U2- Spanish Eyes
(TV: Thirtysomething)
 9.  Crowded House- Don't Dream It's Over
10. Chris Isaak- Blue Hotel

ETA: Giter posted on FB that this set first aired 4/30/10. He keeps better records than us!
