doing the Monday KPOO thing for the first time in a while -- not hearing Judge's voice, as was the case the last time I listened. he's still listed on the website, tho'.
MJ & his brothas blamin' it on da boogie.
OMG: Levert, "Casanova"!
Need some GITback! JB salutes Occupy Wall Street with the Big Payback. That's when ah LAUGH! HAH!
-
fab stuff from JJ as always -- see the New Music thread for a clip from one that was NTM. And here's Gladys & the Pips, feelin' a song in they heart. "He makes me feel just like a WOO-mun!"
Lawd! Honey Cone's "While You're Out Lookin' For Sugar". And William Bell & Judy Clay exchange private numbers -- I love his barely-heard "WHAT??" when she says other guys have been calling her.
-
Lyric of the day: "let's lay down and dance to the radio". Thanks, 1340 The Boardwalk. The group's called Band of Oz.
-
La Radio de Sebb has morphed into/been absorbed by "Soul & Funk", one of 4 channels on classicandjazz.net
http://www.classicandjazz.net/
and their player works on my work PC, which the old Radio de Sebb player stopped doing a year ago. And the first thing I hear is... Jamiroquai. ::)
But it's followed by a NTM Bill Withers ballad and Freeez, "IOU"
NOOOOOOOOO!! Boney M's "Rah-Rah Ras-pyu-teen/Lover of the Russian Queen". Truly horrendous.
OMFG: The Village Peeps "Go West"!
OMFG2: Marianne Faithfull goes disco! ("Sweetheart" -- not sure what year this was from)
Holee Crap: Gil Scott-Heron, not being televised. And Mary Jane Girls in da House! HAAAAAAAAAY!!
-
wow, the Boardwalk just played Grayson Hugh's "Talk it Over", which I was THISCLOSE to requesting for today's 1989 set (AL'd never play it in a million years, I'm sure). What a fab 45.
-
Proxy of Alicat: 2NG plays Charlie Rich, "The Most Beautful Girl"
unfortunately 2NG's Retro Chart today will be from 1956, so I think I'll pass.
-
on The Boardwalk, a Big Joe Turner song that goes "a curly-headed chicken fell in love with a Chicken Hawk" -- er, WTF?
-
Only on 2NG: "Mull of Kintyre" followed by the Partridges' cover of "Breakin' Up Is Hard to Do"
-
"Lemme put dis hamburger down. Ah don' want no malt -- ah wanna DAAAANCE!!" Archie Bell can't stop. Sho' nuf groovin' NOW y'all!
wow, Elvis solidly covering Joe South's "Walk a Mile In My Shoes". Lawd have mercy!

Just heard that orig Barry Maguire version of "Calif Dreaming" (with the Ms & Ps on backing vox) -- sad to say that, even tho' "Eve of Destruction" is one of my all-time fave 45s, his vocal on "CD" is dreadful. They made the right choice having Denny re-record the lead.
