And Swellegant (on FB) has reminded us that the late Sylvia Robinson is probably a good bet.

So looking forward to the set.
After lunchtime, heading to Shoreline for the Rockstar Uproar Fest, http://www.rockstaruproar.com/city/mountainview/
should be a hard rocking day/night with Avenged Sevenfold, Three Days Grace and Seether + more.

AL mentions that it's been too long since we last hit this year. Truer words were never spoken: the last '73 set was May 16. But I noted that, in the two weeks between June 15 and 28 (just prior to the onset of the Dark Ages), we hit '72, '74 and '75. Man, those were the days...

Without doing the research, I'd suggest 1970 has the longest 'drought' of any year 1965-2003.

indeed, it's been ages since a 1970 set. (May 12th, to be precise)

Was hoping that I'd be around to hear some of this set live, but just found out that our pasteurizer is arriving in about 10 minutes, so I'm guessing that's a no. Hope to make tonight's replay. And hope AL gets to play a few of those lovely requests she got yestiddy.

Avenged Sevenfold
saw a clip of them recently and LOL'ed -- they look like an SNL parody of a bad, tattooed nu-metal band. Eeek.
-
Bowie's pulling the waiters again. New York's a go-go!
-
I've had enuf Wolfman jack cameos for one lifetime. BOS1 Stones and that Heartbreaker with her 44s.
-
VHM Heartbreaker. I'm sure it's a frequent flyer for some, but one of the strongest socially conscious/tender/rockin' songs they've done.

Oh my. I have had their CD. Listended 2x. OK. Now I'm worried. I was hoping to stay sober today. Have VIP seats and DON'T want to sleep through it. Did I mention I was "sleeping" thru the entire Giants final game on Sept 28? Too much pre-game festivity.

Mmmm... Soylent green...

R'R 'Trina-Koo.

I don't know if she'll play my ABB request, but at least there's a sideways reference in this song. The Jokers had Dicky Betts on guitar as I remember.
-
BOS
Jack Black Marvin!
-
good luck gettin' it on with Billie Jean, Marvin. LOL!

Listen to Mick intro this one from a 1973 Brussels London show. It's very funny.

I'd've really loved something else from this George LP. "give me hope/help me cope" is not exactly inspired lyric-writing, sorry.
-
BOS Goerge Harrison!!

BOS2 John playin' games wit yo' mind.
John and now George.....
Marvin
David
Mott

don't know - there are other great tunes for sure from G, but maybe given the level of divisiveness that seems to exist now and the growing occupy movement - we do need a little more love and peace.
-
BOS Goerge Harrison!!

LOL. I first read that as singing out. Thought you were serenading them.
-
dig that stereo pie-anna separation!
will we get the uncut version?
-
a segue from "Living for the City" to "Across 110th St" would work well here. No chance of it happening, I guess.
-
Play on AL! You rock on a beautiful Friday!
-
VHM zooma-zooma-zoom-zoom-zoom!
Well, here's Zappa, tho' not "Dirty Love". BOS3 "Montana"

BOS for Frank from me too, in an awesome set.

Mission accomplished. 2,000 lbs of stainless steel is on the ground and in front of the creamery. Been waiting for that for like three months, so I guess it was worth sacrificing this set. What was the Mott tune? I'd love it if it were I Wish I Was Your Mother.

Not too shabby, and for the second time this week. Could we be gradually moving back toward the way things used to be--or some semblance thereof?
That Zoom bit at the end had a sort of proto-rap feel to it. Take that, Grandmaster Flash!
PS: BOS to Marvin, Mott, Lennon and the Allmans.
